Motorists travelling on the 31-kilometre Greenfield Expressway connecting Faridabad with Noida International Airport at Jewar may soon have to pay a toll. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is constructing a toll plaza near Mohana village in Faridabad, with completion targeted within the next two months.
Toll collection is expected to begin after the toll plaza and the expressway are ready for operation. However, NHAI has not yet announced the exact toll charges or confirmed the date on which collection will start.
Greenfield Expressway Connects Faridabad with Jewar Airport
The Greenfield Expressway is being developed to provide a direct road connection between Faridabad’s industrial areas and the upcoming international airport at Jewar in Uttar Pradesh.
The project covers approximately 31 kilometres. Around 24 kilometres of the route lie in Haryana, while the remaining seven kilometres pass through Uttar Pradesh.
The expressway begins in Sector 65 of Faridabad, crosses the Yamuna River and continues towards Uttar Pradesh through the Palwal area. The new route is intended to improve connectivity between Faridabad and the airport region.
Toll Collection Planned at Mohana Interchange
An interchange is being developed near Mohana village to connect the Greenfield Expressway with the Kundli–Ghaziabad–Palwal (KGP) Expressway.
Under the planned arrangement, motorists entering or exiting the Greenfield Expressway through this interchange will be required to pay toll charges at the Mohana toll plaza once collection begins.
NHAI has not yet disclosed the vehicle-wise toll rates. The authority is also yet to confirm the date when motorists will begin paying to use the expressway.
Speed Limits and Safety Measures on the Expressway
Several road safety features are being incorporated into the expressway, including streetlights, road markings and signboards. Speed limits have also been specified for different categories of vehicles.
Cars and other small vehicles will be allowed to travel at speeds of up to 100 kilometres per hour, while heavy and larger vehicles will have a maximum speed limit of 80 kilometres per hour.
Speed-monitoring systems have been installed along the route to track vehicle speeds and support compliance with the prescribed limits.
Automatic Irrigation System for Green Belt
NHAI is also developing a green belt along the expressway divider, supported by an automatic irrigation arrangement. Special pipelines and sprinklers have been installed to water the plants regularly.
NHAI Project Director Dheeraj Singh said construction work at the Mohana Interchange was progressing rapidly. He also explained that the sprinkler system would help maintain the greenery over the long term with less manual effort.
Once the expressway and toll facilities are completed, the route is expected to offer motorists a new connection between Faridabad and Jewar airport. Travellers should wait for official announcements from NHAI regarding the opening schedule and applicable toll rates.
