Bihar continues to deal with flooding in several areas, with authorities carrying out relief and rescue operations in affected districts. Amid the ongoing situation, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has directed officials to complete preparations for another round of financial assistance for eligible flood-affected families.

According to reports, ₹7,000 per affected family is scheduled to be transferred directly into bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) on October 9. The move is aimed at providing financial assistance to families affected by the floods.

Samrat Choudhary Reviews Flood Situation

Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary recently conducted an aerial survey of flood-affected areas, including parts of West Champaran. He also visited a relief camp in the Bairia block and reviewed the arrangements being made for affected residents.

Officials were instructed to ensure that relief work continues without interruption and that affected families receive essential supplies. The administration has also been asked to maintain adequate stocks of dry ration and other relief materials.

The government has also directed that community kitchens continue operating in affected areas until conditions return to normal.

₹7,000 Relief to Be Sent on October 9

Preparations are underway for the transfer of gratuitous relief (GR) assistance through DBT on October 9. Officials have been asked to complete the necessary process so that eligible beneficiaries receive the assistance through their bank accounts.

This is separate from the earlier relief distribution carried out on September 15. On that occasion, ₹579.23 crore was transferred through DBT to 8,27,472 flood-affected families, with each family receiving ₹7,000. The Bihar Chief Minister’s Office confirmed the transfer.

Relief Camps and Community Kitchens Continue

The administration is continuing relief operations in flood-affected districts. A review conducted on September 30 covered the status of relief camps, community kitchens, boats, embankments and the distribution of essential supplies.

At that time, six relief camps were providing accommodation, food and medical facilities to 3,550 people. Around 100 community kitchens had served food to approximately 1.40 lakh people, while 221 boats were being used for transportation and relief operations.

Officials have been instructed to closely monitor the flood situation and ensure that food, drinking water, dry ration, animal feed and other essential materials reach affected families as required.
