Actress Anjali Arora has spoken about the importance of accepting prasad with respect after an old video of Ranbir Kapoor declining prasad during a Ganesh puja resurfaced on social media.
The 2023 clip recently came back into the spotlight, with some social media users criticising Kapoor for refusing the offering because he was following a diet. The controversy gained renewed attention as the actor prepares to play Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana.
Anjali, who will portray Mata Sita in Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha, discussed the significance of prasad while speaking to the media at the trailer launch of the upcoming project.
What Anjali Arora Said About Prasad
Speaking about prasad, Anjali said that it represents a blessing from God and does not have to be consumed in a large quantity.
“I have just kept Lord Ganesha Prasad at home and I love sweet. I eat so much sweet that that’s it. And anyway, the Prasad that we get is a blessing. It will not make our stomach full, we get good wisdom,” she said.
She added, “So, the amount of Prasad you get, it’s not that you have to eat a lot. Eat a little bit because God gives you blessings.”
Her comments came after the old Ranbir Kapoor video began circulating again. While Anjali did not directly name Kapoor in her remarks, her comments were discussed in the context of the controversy surrounding the actor.
Why Ranbir Kapoor’s Old Video Resurfaced
The video is reportedly from 2023, when Ranbir visited a Ganpati pandal in Mumbai to seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha.
After the puja, the Barfi! actor was seen distributing modaks to paparazzi. When a photographer offered him prasad, Kapoor politely declined and reportedly explained that he was on a diet before suggesting that the photographer have it instead.
The clip resurfaced while Kapoor is preparing for his role as Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. The development prompted criticism from some social media users.
Anjali Arora on Playing Mata Sita
Anjali is set to play Mata Sita in Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha. She has also faced trolling over her casting in the mythological project.
Addressing the discussion around her role, Anjali said she believes the opportunity came through divine blessings.
“I have not selected this role myself. This role has been given to me by Lord Ram and Goddess Sita. And I am a big devotee of Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman. I go to Hanuman temple every Tuesday. So, maybe this is the result of that. So, if they have given me blessings and told me to do it, then I will do it,” she said.
Her remarks come as both Anjali’s Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha and Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana continue to attract attention because of their respective portrayals of Mata Sita and Lord Ram.
