Playful styling, pink boxes, delicate bows and imaginative designs took centre stage as Péro opened Lakmé Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI on October 14 at Taj Palace, New Delhi. Designer Aneeth Arora introduced the label’s Spring-Summer 2027 collection, titled Dream Dress-Up, in collaboration with Barbie, bringing together colourful self-expression and handmade craftsmanship.
The collection encourages people to explore their individuality through clothing rather than follow conventional fashion rules. With relaxed silhouettes, creative layering and distinctive textile details, the showcase presented dressing as an opportunity to experiment with different styles and express personal identity.
Péro x Barbie: The Idea Behind Dream Dress-Up
The collaboration is part of Barbie’s global partnership with Péro, facilitated in India by Dream Theatre, Mattel’s licensing agency. It brings together Barbie’s emphasis on creativity and possibilities with Péro’s handcrafted, narrative-driven design philosophy.
At the heart of Dream Dress-Up is the idea that fashion should reflect the wearer’s personality rather than be restricted by predefined expectations. The collection invites people to explore different versions of themselves through clothing, making experimentation and personal expression central to the concept.
The inspiration also draws from Barbie’s iconic pink box, which becomes a symbol of breaking away from labels rather than remaining confined within them.
Inside the Collection: Playful Prints, Crochet and Genderless Fashion
The Spring-Summer 2027 collection features comfortable, easy-to-wear designs that prioritise movement and versatility. Péro combines traditionally feminine and masculine elements, creating outfits that balance contrasting styles.
Playful prints, crochet details, lace, small bows and unconventional layering contribute to the collection’s distinctive appearance. These elements are complemented by the label’s signature approach to handmade textiles, intricate craftsmanship and deliberately imperfect finishes.
Barbie pink also takes on a broader meaning throughout the collection. Rather than being associated with a single idea of femininity or girlhood, the colour is presented as an option for everyone, reinforcing Péro’s genderless approach to dressing.
Through these design choices, Dream Dress-Up combines Barbie’s playful visual identity with Péro’s emphasis on craftsmanship and individual expression.
Lakmé x Tira Brings Beauty to the Opening Showcase
The opening show was presented by Lakmé x Tira, with Tira serving as the beauty partner. The showcase also marked the fashion week debut of Lakmé’s 9to5 HYA Glam Range.
The range centres on the concept of a “5 PM Glam Reset”, designed for routines that transition from work commitments to evening plans. As part of the launch, the Lakmé 9to5 HYA Glam Lip & Cheek Blush is being introduced exclusively on Tira.
The beauty collaboration added another dimension to the opening showcase, bringing together fashion, makeup and everyday styling.
Why Péro Opened Lakmé Fashion Week 2026
The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) selects a designer each season to present the opening show, recognising creative work and contributions to Indian fashion craftsmanship.
FDCI chairman Sunil Sethi noted that Péro consistently delivers some of the platform’s most talked-about showcases. The label has also held prominent positions in previous editions of the fashion week.
Péro opened the October 2024 edition while marking its 15th anniversary. It later closed the March 2026 edition with its Out of Office finale.
With Dream Dress-Up, Aneeth Arora brings the label back to the opening stage with a collection that celebrates imagination, handmade design and freedom of expression. The Péro x Barbie collaboration sets the tone for the season by presenting fashion as a playful way to explore personal style beyond traditional labels and expectations.
