A new Vande Bharat Express service is planned between Yeshwantpur in Bengaluru and Madgaon in Goa. The proposed train will connect Karnataka and Goa while taking passengers through some of India’s most scenic railway landscapes, including the Western Ghats and the coastal belt.

During the journey, passengers will get views of green mountains, mist-covered valleys and waterfalls, particularly along the Sakleshpur and Subrahmanya Road sections. The route will also connect popular destinations such as Udupi and Gokarna.

Covering approximately 670 kilometres, the proposed service will stop at 12 important stations between Bengaluru and Goa.

Why Will This Be One of the Slowest Vande Bharat Trains?

The proposed service is expected to run at an average speed of around 53–54 km per hour. The challenging railway terrain, hills and winding sections along the route will require speed restrictions.

Because of these geographical conditions, the train is expected to be among the slowest Vande Bharat services in the country. However, the comparatively slower journey will also allow passengers to enjoy the natural scenery of the Western Ghats, valleys and coastal areas.

Vande Bharat Service Expected to Boost Tourism

The Yeshwantpur-Madgaon Vande Bharat is expected to make travel more convenient for tourists visiting destinations such as Udupi, Gokarna, Murudeshwara and Karwar.

The train’s coaches have been manufactured by Bengaluru-based BEML using technology from the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai.

The Railway Board is expected to announce the official commencement date of the service shortly. The railways have also recently introduced the Delhi-Varanasi Vande Bharat Sleeper and Mumbai-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Sleeper services.
