New Delhi: Kawasaki has expanded its motorcycle lineup in India with the introduction of the new Z650 S. The updated model features refreshed styling based on the company’s Sugomi design philosophy, along with redesigned lighting elements and a new colour TFT instrument display.
While the motorcycle receives several visual and technology upgrades, its engine and most mechanical components remain unchanged. The new Kawasaki Z650 S is priced at ₹7.59 lakh (ex-showroom), making it ₹33,000 more expensive than the standard Z650, which continues to sell at ₹7.26 lakh.
The latest version is designed to offer a more distinctive appearance and improved technology while retaining the familiar performance characteristics of the existing motorcycle.
Kawasaki Z650 S: New Design and Features
The Kawasaki Z650 S gets styling inspired by the brand’s Sugomi design language, which is also featured on larger motorcycles such as the Z900. The front section has been redesigned with a new headlamp, while the updated tail-light gives the motorcycle a sharper rear profile.
One of the key additions is a new 4.3-inch TFT instrument cluster. The display supports smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation, providing riders with additional information and convenience while travelling.
Kawasaki is also offering a quickshifter as an optional accessory. The motorcycle will be available in a White and Green colour combination.
Kawasaki Z650 S: Engine and Performance
The new Z650 S continues to use the familiar 649cc parallel-twin engine from the standard Z650. This engine produces 68.25hp of power and 64Nm of peak torque, with a six-speed gearbox handling transmission duties.
There are no major changes to the engine or transmission setup. The suspension hardware also remains the same, featuring telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock.
However, Kawasaki has made revisions to the braking system. The front now features twin 272mm disc brakes instead of the 300mm discs used on the standard Z650. At the rear, the disc size has been reduced from 220mm to 186mm.
The updated motorcycle also weighs 193kg, which is 5kg more than the standard model’s 188kg kerb weight.
Kawasaki Z650 S Price Compared With Standard Z650
The new Kawasaki Z650 S carries an additional price of ₹33,000 over the regular Z650.
| Model | Ex-showroom Price |
|---|---|
| Kawasaki Z650 | ₹7.26 lakh |
| Kawasaki Z650 S | ₹7.59 lakh |
| Price Difference | ₹33,000 |
With this update, Kawasaki is focusing on improved styling, refreshed lighting and additional instrument-console features rather than major engine modifications. Buyers will need to consider whether these design and technology improvements justify the additional cost over the standard Z650.
