Apple could be preparing several major improvements for the successor to its ultra-thin iPhone Air. Expected to arrive as the iPhone Air 2, the upcoming smartphone is reportedly set to receive upgrades in battery capacity and camera hardware, addressing two key limitations of the first-generation model.
According to a new leak, the iPhone Air 2 could feature a 120Hz OLED display, a dual rear camera setup and a larger battery. The smartphone is also expected to use Apple’s next-generation A20-series processor. Reports suggest that the device could make its debut in spring 2027.

The upcoming smartphone is tipped to feature a 6.55-inch flat OLED display with a 1.5K+ resolution and a 120Hz LTPO refresh rate. The reported screen size is also consistent with details shared in an earlier leak.
Under the hood, the iPhone Air 2 is expected to be powered by an A20-series chipset. The processor is reportedly based on a 2nm manufacturing process, which would make it part of Apple’s next-generation chip lineup.
iPhone Air 2 Battery and Camera Upgrades
Battery capacity could be one of the most significant improvements in the upcoming iPhone Air 2. The smartphone is tipped to pack a 3,500mAh battery, compared with the 3,149mAh unit found in the original iPhone Air.
This represents an increase of approximately 11 percent over its predecessor. The latest battery leak also supports an earlier claim from the same tipster, who had reportedly received the information from supply chain sources.
Apple is also expected to upgrade the rear camera system. Unlike the original iPhone Air, which features a single rear camera, the iPhone Air 2 could come with two sensors. The setup is tipped to include a 48-megapixel primary camera alongside a new ultra-wide-angle sensor.
For biometric security, the device is expected to retain Apple’s Face ID authentication system.
iPhone Air 2 Launch Timeline and Expected Details
Apple could introduce the iPhone Air 2 in spring 2027, potentially alongside the standard iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e models. However, the company has not officially confirmed the smartphone or its launch schedule.
For comparison, the first-generation iPhone Air was launched in September last year in India. Its 256GB storage variant was priced at Rs. 1,19,900, while the 512GB and 1TB models were introduced at Rs. 1,39,900 and Rs. 1,59,900, respectively.
If the reported specifications are accurate, the iPhone Air 2 could bring meaningful improvements to battery capacity and photography while retaining the slim-device positioning of its predecessor.
