New Delhi: Maharashtra could see some relief from the intense heat and humidity in the coming days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting a revival in rainfall across several parts of the state. Recent weather forecasts indicate changing atmospheric conditions, raising the possibility of thunderstorms, gusty winds and scattered showers.

The expected change is particularly noticeable in Konkan, Western Maharashtra and parts of Marathwada. Thunderstorms and strong winds may bring temporary relief from high daytime temperatures, although hot and humid conditions are likely to continue in several other areas.

IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Several Districts

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg in the Konkan region, along with Kolhapur, Satara and Sangli in Western Maharashtra. Isolated thunderstorms and lightning are also possible in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

Meanwhile, most other parts of Maharashtra are expected to experience cloudy skies, with daytime temperatures and humidity remaining high. Residents may therefore continue to face uncomfortable weather despite the possibility of scattered rainfall.

Rain and Thunderstorms May Spread by Wednesday

Thunderstorm activity is forecast to continue through Wednesday, potentially affecting a wider area of the state. Light rainfall accompanied by lightning is likely in Pune, Satara, Kolhapur, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Nashik, Jalgaon and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

The unsettled conditions are linked to a strengthening low-pressure system over the southwest Arabian Sea. The system is expected to develop into a well-marked low-pressure area or depression, according to the forecast.

Changing cloud cover and intermittent showers may bring short periods of relief, followed by a return to warmer conditions. With rainfall remaining irregular this season, farmers in several drought-prone areas are closely watching weather developments and hoping for more consistent rain to support their crops.

Gusty Winds Expected in South Konkan and Central Maharashtra

South Konkan, Goa and Madhya Maharashtra may experience wind gusts of 30 to 50 km/h, accompanied by lightning and light to moderate rainfall.

The unsettled weather is expected to persist into Wednesday, affecting parts of North Maharashtra, the western plateau and coastal areas. Localised thunderstorm activity could bring brief evening showers before conditions turn drier again.
