The Indian stock market is set to resume trading on October 5 after the Gandhi Jayanti holiday, with investors returning to a market that has recorded eight consecutive weekly declines. Several companies have announced quarterly business updates, sales numbers, production data and corporate developments, which could influence their shares in Monday’s session.
The Nifty 50 ended October 1 at 22,421.95, down 198.50 points or 0.88%. The Sensex also declined 570.59 points, or 0.79%, to close at 71,909.70.
Along with company-specific developments, investors are expected to track crude oil prices, global bond yields, foreign fund flows, geopolitical developments and the upcoming earnings season.
Bajaj Finance, DMart and YES Bank
Bajaj Finance: The company is in focus after announcing plans to raise up to ₹17,500 crore. The proposed fundraising includes a ₹11,700-crore Qualified Institutions Placement and ₹5,800 crore through convertible warrants to promoter Bajaj Finserv. The plan remains subject to shareholder approval. Bajaj Finance has also released its Q2 FY27 business update. Its shares closed at around ₹948.30 on October 1.
DMart: Avenue Supermarts, which operates DMart stores, reported an 18.4% year-on-year rise in standalone revenue from operations to ₹19,206.18 crore in the September quarter, compared with ₹16,218.79 crore a year earlier. Revenue was also 4.7% higher than the ₹18,343.49 crore reported in the June quarter. The stock closed at ₹3,830 on October 1.
YES Bank: Loans and advances increased 23.8% year-on-year to around ₹3.10 lakh crore as of September 30, while deposits rose 19.5% to ₹3.54 lakh crore. However, the CASA ratio declined to 30%, compared with 32.7% in the previous quarter and 33.7% a year earlier. YES Bank shares ended at ₹20.70 on October 1.
Auto and Financial Stocks in Focus
Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services: Disbursements rose approximately 22% year-on-year to ₹16,490 crore in Q2. Business assets increased 15% to nearly ₹1.46 lakh crore, while collection efficiency improved to 97% from 96% a year earlier.
Bajaj Auto: The company sold 5,38,443 vehicles in September, registering around 5% year-on-year growth. Domestic sales declined 9%, but exports jumped 32%, creating a clear difference between its domestic and overseas performance.
Maruti Suzuki: Total sales increased 24% year-on-year in September, while domestic passenger vehicle sales climbed 37%. Despite the strong sales numbers, the stock faced selling pressure in the previous session along with the broader automobile sector.
Mahindra & Mahindra: Overall automobile sales increased 15% year-on-year to 1,14,874 units in September. Tractor sales, however, dropped 21% to 52,100 units, making the farm equipment segment a weaker part of the monthly performance.
Bajaj Housing Finance: Gross disbursements grew 25.2% year-on-year to ₹19,930 crore. Assets under management increased 25% to ₹1.58 lakh crore, while loan assets stood at around ₹1.40 lakh crore.
Banking, Metals and Other Stocks
Bank of Baroda: The bank reported 17.45% year-on-year growth in global business to ₹32.64 lakh crore as of September 30. Global advances increased 18.27% to ₹15.12 lakh crore, while global deposits rose 16.75% to ₹17.51 lakh crore. Domestic deposits grew 17.01% to ₹14.88 lakh crore and domestic advances increased 13.5% to ₹11.88 lakh crore.
Hindustan Zinc: Mined metal production rose 5% year-on-year to 271 kilotonnes, while saleable metal output increased 7% to 264 kt. Refined zinc production grew 5% to 212 kt and refined lead production climbed 14% to 51 kt.
UCO Bank: Total business expanded 18.84% year-on-year to ₹6.37 lakh crore in Q2. Advances increased 24.68% to ₹2.88 lakh crore, while deposits grew 14.05% to ₹3.49 lakh crore.
NMDC: Production rose 7.7% year-on-year to 4.04 million tonnes in September from 3.75 million tonnes. However, sales declined 9.5% to 3.51 million tonnes from 3.88 million tonnes.
Bandhan Bank: Loans and advances increased 13.1% year-on-year to ₹1.58 lakh crore as of September 30, while deposits rose 9.2% to ₹1.73 lakh crore. Retail term deposits increased 16.8% to ₹79,340 crore.
Bharat Coking Coal: Raw coal production jumped 20.7% year-on-year to 25.7 lakh tonnes, while coking coal production rose 21.5% to 24.9 lakh tonnes. Total raw coal offtake increased 13.7% to 31.5 lakh tonnes.
IT Stocks and Muthoot Finance
Infosys and Wipro: Indian IT stocks could attract attention after their American Depository Receipts gained around 8% in pre-market trading on October 1. The move followed stronger-than-expected fourth-quarter results from Accenture and a positive revenue outlook for fiscal 2027, which improved sentiment across the global IT services sector.
Muthoot Finance: The gold-loan company appointed Alexander George as Managing Director for the period from October 1, 2026, to March 31, 2031. George Alexander Muthoot was also appointed Vice Chairman and Whole-Time Director.
