The Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is preparing to provide higher Dearness Allowance (DA) and a bonus to state government employees ahead of Diwali. The Finance Department has started work on the proposals, according to reports.

A bonus of between Rs 3,400 and Rs 7,000 may be announced for non-gazetted employees. Along with this, the government is also considering a 3 per cent increase in DA and Dearness Relief (DR) for employees and pensioners, with the revised rate proposed to take effect from July.

The proposed DA and DR hike could benefit more than 12 lakh government employees and over 6 lakh pensioners across Uttar Pradesh, taking the total number of beneficiaries to more than 18 lakh.

Outsourced Employees May Get Higher Honorarium

The Yogi government is also preparing to increase the honorarium paid to around 2.70 lakh outsourced employees working across different departments. The revised honorarium is expected to be applicable from September.

If implemented as proposed, the salary paid in October, which is expected to be disbursed in November, could include arrears for September.

Yogi Government Announces Benefits for Outsourced Workers

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had announced several measures for outsourced employees on September 2. During the programme, he launched the Uttar Pradesh Outsourced Services Corporation, along with the UPCOS portal and website, and unveiled its logo.

The event also highlighted a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the State Bank of India (SBI) and the Outsourced Services Corporation.

Under the proposed system, honorariums will be transferred directly into the bank accounts of outsourced employees. The government has also announced financial protection for workers and their families in various situations.

In the event of an accident or disaster, families could receive accident insurance coverage ranging from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 40 lakh, depending on the category. The announced support also includes Rs 10 lakh in case of fire, Rs 5 lakh for urgent medical treatment and Rs 10 lakh for emergency air ambulance services.

Education and Family Support Measures

The announced benefits also cover education and family-related needs. Financial assistance of Rs 8 lakh has been announced for a son’s education, while support of up to Rs 10 lakh may be provided for a daughter’s education.

For the marriage of two daughters, financial assistance ranging from Rs 8 lakh to Rs 10 lakh will also be available. In the event of an employee’s death, the Outsourced Services Corporation will provide Rs 50,000 to the family through a bank account without delay.

Employees will also be able to open bank accounts without maintaining a minimum balance, with special benefits extended to four members of their families.

Yogi Adityanath said the objective of creating the corporation is to build a more organised, skilled, secure and respected workforce among outsourced employees. He also stressed that timely financial and social support benefits the entire family, helping with children’s education, healthcare for parents and the future of daughters.
