PM Vishwakarma Yojana: People involved in traditional crafts and trades can receive financial and skill-development support under the PM Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman Yojana. The Central Government has introduced the scheme with a focus on traditional artisans and craftspeople, including those looking for support to strengthen their livelihood.

Those planning to apply for the scheme should first understand who is eligible, what benefits are available, which documents and details are required, and how the application process works.

What Benefits Are Available Under PM Vishwakarma Yojana?

Training is one of the key components of the PM Vishwakarma scheme. After joining the programme, eligible beneficiaries receive basic skill training and are provided a ₹500 stipend during the training period.

Beneficiaries can also receive ₹15,000 for purchasing tools required for their traditional work. This support is intended to help artisans obtain the equipment needed to carry out their trade.

PM Vishwakarma Loan Details

The scheme also provides access to loans to help eligible beneficiaries establish or expand their businesses after completing training. These loans are offered at a low interest rate.

Under the first stage, beneficiaries can receive a loan of up to ₹1 lakh, which has to be repaid over 18 months. After successfully repaying this amount, they can become eligible for a second loan of up to ₹2 lakh, with a repayment period of 30 months.

Who Is Eligible for the Scheme?

Applicants must be engaged in one of the traditional trades covered under the PM Vishwakarma scheme and must be at least 18 years old.

The eligible occupations include doll and toy makers, weapon makers, sculptors, basket, mat and broom makers, tailors, garland makers, masons, carpenters, cobblers, fishing net makers, washermen, blacksmiths, barbers, boat makers and stone carvers.

Another important condition is that no member of the applicant’s family should be employed in a government job. In addition, the applicant should not have taken a loan under schemes such as PM SVANidhi, Mudra or PMEGP during the previous five years.

How to Apply for PM Vishwakarma Yojana

Eligible applicants can begin the application process by visiting a Common Service Centre (CSC).

The applicant needs to provide their Aadhaar card and the mobile number linked with Aadhaar to the CSC operator. Aadhaar-based biometric e-KYC is then completed.

Applicants are also required to provide relevant family and ration card details and select their particular trade from the 18 traditional occupations covered under the scheme. Bank account details must also be entered as part of the application.

After the application is completed and processed, the beneficiary receives a PM Vishwakarma certificate and ID card. The beneficiary can then proceed with basic skill training and receive the applicable ₹15,000 tool support and first loan instalment of ₹1 lakh, as per the scheme’s process.
