Gold Price Weekly Update: Gold prices continue to move up and down, making it important for buyers to check the latest rates before purchasing jewellery. With the festive season approaching, demand for gold generally remains closely watched by consumers.
Gold and silver prices have also been influenced by global market conditions. Factors such as interest-rate expectations and movements in the US dollar can affect precious-metal prices and may continue to create volatility in the market. Recent reports have also highlighted pressure on gold prices following their earlier highs.
Since Saturday is a non-trading day for the relevant domestic markets, fresh MCX trading does not take place and IBJA does not publish its regular rates on Saturdays and Sundays. Therefore, the previous available rates remain the reference point.
Gold Price on MCX and IBJA
On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), the December 4, 2026 gold futures contract was quoted at ₹1,50,390 per 10 grams, down ₹140. The 24-carat bullion-market price was reported at ₹1,50,550 per 10 grams.
According to IBJA data, the evening rate for 24-carat, 999-purity gold on October 1 was ₹1,48,138 per 10 grams. IBJA rates are benchmark bullion prices and do not include GST or making charges. As a result, the amount paid by a jewellery buyer can be higher than the published benchmark rate.

What Gold Buyers Should Keep in Mind
Gold prices can differ between bullion benchmarks and the final price quoted by a jewellery retailer. In addition to the underlying gold rate, buyers may have to pay GST and making charges. IBJA specifically states that its published benchmark rates are exclusive of these charges.
Therefore, anyone planning to purchase gold jewellery should check the latest rate with the jeweller before completing the transaction, particularly during periods of frequent market movement.
