An old video from September 2024 is being circulated on social media with a misleading claim that a person was deliberately damaging the window of a Vande Bharat train. PIB Fact Check has clarified that the claim is false.
According to the clarification, the glass shown in the video was already damaged and was being removed with a hammer so that it could be replaced during routine maintenance. The incident took place at Ahmedabad’s Kanakariya Integrated Coaching Depot.
What the Viral Video Actually Shows
The video reportedly shows contract worker Manish Kumar Gupta removing damaged glass from a Vande Bharat train during scheduled maintenance. The use of a hammer was part of the process of taking out the already-broken glass for replacement.
Therefore, the footage does not show an act of vandalism or deliberate damage to the train.

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) post in Banda registered a case against unidentified persons under Sections 153 and 147 of the Railway Act.
RPF Investigation Identifies Juvenile
During the investigation, the RPF identified a 12-year-old juvenile from Nandana village under the Girwan police station area of Banda district. The juvenile, identified as the son of late Raju Verma, was apprehended by the RPF team on the same day.
