New Delhi: Several parts of India are likely to receive rain on Friday, October 2, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and parts of Northeast India are among the regions expected to see isolated to scattered rainfall.
The weather department has also forecast isolated heavy showers over parts of southern India and Arunachal Pradesh. Thunderstorms and lightning may accompany rainfall in several areas, while strong surface winds are expected in Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema and parts of Karnataka.
Delhi-NCR, meanwhile, is expected to remain largely dry, with no significant rainfall activity indicated in the latest forecast. A separate weather report also said Delhi is likely to remain dry through October 5.
Rain Forecast for East and Central India
Rainfall is also expected in several eastern and central parts of the country. The forecast includes the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Sikkim and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal.
Jharkhand may receive isolated heavy rainfall, while Odisha is likely to see scattered showers accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds. Wind speeds in Odisha could reach 30-40 kmph and may occasionally touch 50 kmph.
In Bihar, fresh rainfall activity is expected to increase from October 3. Thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds are also likely in the state between October 4 and October 6.
Northeast India Weather
Several northeastern states are likely to experience rain on October 2. Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya may receive showers, while rainfall is also possible over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
The IMD has warned that thunderstorms and lightning could accompany the rain across parts of Northeast India. Arunachal Pradesh is among the areas where isolated heavy rainfall is also possible.
Central and Western India Forecast
East Madhya Pradesh may receive isolated to scattered rainfall on October 2, with the wet spell expected to continue through October 3. Chhattisgarh could also see scattered showers between October 2 and October 6.
Vidarbha is likely to experience rainfall during October 5 and 6.
In western India, isolated to scattered rain is forecast over the Konkan region, Madhya Maharashtra and Goa from October 1 to October 6. Gujarat, Saurashtra and Kutch may also experience scattered rainfall in the coming days.
The latest IMD updates indicate that rainfall activity will remain concentrated across several southern, eastern, northeastern and western regions, while Delhi-NCR is expected to see comparatively dry conditions in the immediate period.
