New Delhi: Land Rover has unveiled the Range Rover Sport Electric and opened bookings for the all-electric SUV in India. It is the first fully electric model in the Range Rover Sport lineup and uses a 118.5kWh battery pack.
The SUV shares its platform with the previously introduced Range Rover Electric but offers a slightly higher claimed WLTP range of 609km. Power comes from a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive system that Land Rover says delivers performance comparable to the V8-powered Range Rover Sport.
The Range Rover Electric and Range Rover Sport Electric also mark the brand’s entry into electric powertrains.
Range Rover Sport Electric: Power and Charging
The Range Rover Sport Electric is built on JLR’s 800-volt MLA-Flex architecture, which is also used by the Range Rover Electric. It gets the same 118.5kWh battery, but its claimed range is 9km higher at 609km.
The battery comes with a warranty of eight years or 1.6 lakh km, whichever comes first.
Its two electric motors produce up to 550hp and 850Nm of torque. According to JLR, the 850Nm figure is the highest torque output offered on a Range Rover Sport so far. The company also says torque delivery is 50 per cent quicker than in the larger Range Rover Electric.
The electric SUV can accelerate from 0-100kph in 4.5 seconds, matching the claimed acceleration time of the P540 V8-powered Range Rover Sport.
For charging, the SUV supports 350kW DC fast charging. Land Rover claims the battery can charge from 10 to 80 per cent in 22 minutes, while a 10-minute charging session can add up to 220km of claimed range.
The electric model also features a body structure that is 61 per cent stiffer than its combustion-powered counterpart, while its centre of gravity is 73mm lower. Its chassis uses double-wishbone front suspension and a five-link rear setup, supported by air suspension, twin-valve dampers, active roll control and all-wheel steering.
Braking is handled by 380mm ventilated front discs with four-piston callipers, while the rear receives 355mm discs.
Exterior and Interior Design
The Range Rover Sport Electric retains the familiar styling of the combustion-powered Sport. At the front, it gets slim LED headlights, an aerodynamically optimised black grille with horizontal detailing and an offset Land Rover badge. Range Rover lettering is placed on the bonnet, while functional air openings are integrated into the bumper.
The SUV rides on 22-inch alloy wheels with aerodynamic inserts and EV-specific wheel caps. Flush-fitting door handles are also part of the design. The A-, B- and C-pillars, roof and ORVMs feature black finishes.
At the rear, the SUV continues with wraparound LED tail-lamps positioned above a gloss-black panel carrying Range Rover lettering. A black Sport badge is mounted on the tailgate, while there is no separate EV badge.
The Range Rover Sport Electric will be available in Dynamic SE, Dynamic HSE, Autobiography and First Edition variants. Buyers can also opt for a Black Pack and Satin Wrap.
The First Edition will be offered in Zadar Grey with a Satin Wrap, black contrast roof and 22-inch alloy wheels. Customers choosing the Autobiography variant can further personalise the SUV through Range Rover Bespoke.
Inside, the electric Sport largely retains the cabin design of the ICE-powered model. It features a three-spoke steering wheel with touch-sensitive controls, a 13.1-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 13.7-inch digital instrument cluster.
Both screens receive EV-specific menus. The centre console and drive-mode selector stalk are carried over from the combustion-powered model. The SUV continues with a five-seat layout and gets features such as a wireless smartphone charger, four-zone climate control and rear sunblinds. Both front and rear passengers get powered, heated and ventilated seats.
Range Rover Sport Electric India Launch and Expected Price
The Range Rover Sport Electric is expected to arrive in India by March 2027 as a completely built-up import.
As an electric vehicle, it will not qualify for tariff concessions under the India-UK Free Trade Agreement. The SUV is expected to be priced at around ₹2.5 crore, ex-showroom.
If launched at this expected price, it would sit significantly above the regular non-SV Range Rover Sport, which is currently priced between ₹1.43 crore and ₹1.60 crore.
