- Select and book a vacant berth: Check the available berth carefully to make sure it is vacant for the portion of the journey you intend to travel. Select the booking option, enter the passenger details and complete the payment process.
What Is Current Booking After Chart Preparation?
The Current Booking facility allows passengers to book available accommodation even after the reservation chart has been prepared, subject to the booking time limit and availability prescribed by Indian Railways.
According to IRCTC, only confirmed tickets are issued through the current booking facility. This means passengers using this option do not receive a waitlisted ticket.
Why a Vacant Berth May Not Be Available for Your Journey
