LPG Rules: LPG consumers across India are set to see several changes from October 1, 2026, covering cylinder subsidies, booking intervals, pricing and e-KYC requirements. According to the new directives mentioned in the source, consumers will need to complete biometric Aadhaar-based e-KYC to receive the government subsidy of ₹210 per cylinder.
The government had also changed the cylinder booking interval on September 7. Under the revised rule, consumers must wait at least 25 days after the previous cylinder delivery before booking another refill. Customers using Indane, HP Gas and Bharat Gas should be aware of these changes.
Biometric Aadhaar e-KYC Becomes Important for Subsidy
Biometric Aadhaar authentication is being made mandatory for consumers who want to receive the applicable government subsidy. Those who do not complete the e-KYC process will not receive the ₹210 subsidy and will have to purchase the cylinder at the applicable market price.
However, failure to complete e-KYC will not mean that the LPG connection is cancelled. Consumers will continue to receive cylinder deliveries even if their verification remains incomplete.
According to the information provided, around 89.9% of LPG consumers across the country have already completed the verification process. These consumers will not be required to complete the process again.
LPG Cylinder Prices to Be Revised
LPG cylinder prices are reviewed by oil marketing companies at the beginning of every month, taking global crude oil prices into consideration. As a result, the latest prices for both domestic and commercial LPG cylinders will be announced on October 1.
Consumers should therefore check the updated LPG rates applicable to their cylinder category after the monthly revision.
The government also revised the booking interval on September 7. Under the updated rule, both urban and rural consumers will be able to book their next refill only after 25 days from the delivery of the previous cylinder. For rural consumers, the earlier waiting period was 45 days.
Steps to Curb Fake and Commercial Use of Domestic LPG
The biometric e-KYC requirement is intended to help prevent the misuse of subsidized domestic LPG cylinders. The verification process can help identify duplicate or fraudulent connections and address the commercial use of domestic cylinders by establishments such as hotels, eateries and industrial units.
By linking consumer verification with Aadhaar-based authentication, the system is aimed at ensuring that eligible connections receive the applicable benefits.
How to Check LPG e-KYC Status
Consumers can check the e-KYC status of their LPG connection through the official online platforms of their respective gas providers. Customers using Indane, HP Gas or Bharat Gas can check their details through the relevant company’s official website.
The government portal MyLPG.in can also be used to access LPG-related services and check the available information regarding the connection.
