There is an important pension update for eligible pensioners and family pensioners in Andhra Pradesh. The state government has revised the rates of additional pension payable to beneficiaries who reach the age of 70 and 75.

Under the revised rates, pensioners and family pensioners aged 70 will now receive an additional pension equal to 10% of their basic pension, compared with the earlier rate of 7%. For those aged 75, the additional pension has been increased from 12% to 15%.

The Andhra Pradesh Finance Department issued the notification on September 22. The revision follows a request from the Andhra Pradesh Pensioners’ Association, Amaravati, seeking changes to the additional pension rates prescribed under the 2019 order.

Additional Pension Rates for Different Age Groups

The latest change specifically increases the additional pension applicable at ages 70 and 75.

Pensioners and family pensioners who are 70 years old will receive an additional 10% of their basic pension. Those who have reached 75 years will receive an additional 15%.

There is no change in the existing additional pension rates for beneficiaries aged 80 and above. Pensioners who reach 80 years will continue to receive an additional 20% of their basic pension.

The additional rates for the higher age groups will also remain unchanged: 25% at 85 years, 30% at 90 years, 35% at 95 years and 50% at 100 years.

When Will the Revised Pension Be Paid?

According to the Finance Department, the revised rates for pensioners and family pensioners aged 70 and 75 will take effect from the December 2026 pension payment.

The December pension is scheduled to be disbursed on January 1, 2027. The government has stated that the implementation will follow the guidelines issued in the February 2022 order.

The Director of Treasuries and Accounts has been given responsibility for ensuring that the revised rates are implemented properly.

What This Means for Pensioners

The revision means eligible pensioners and family pensioners reaching the specified age milestones will receive a higher additional amount along with their basic pension.

For those aged 70, the additional component will rise by 3 percentage points, from 7% to 10%. At age 75, it will increase by 3 percentage points, from 12% to 15%.

The revised rates are limited to these two age categories, while the additional pension percentages applicable from 80 years onward remain unchanged.
