The Indian automobile market is expected to see several important launches during the 2026 festive season. Major manufacturers including Hyundai, Tata, Toyota, Mahindra, Honda and Renault are preparing new models and updated versions across different segments.
From SUVs and electric vehicles to hatchbacks, sedans and CNG models, at least six upcoming cars are expected to arrive during September and October 2026. Here is a look at the key models and what buyers can expect from them.
Hyundai Bayon: New SUV Between Venue and Creta
The Hyundai Bayon is expected to make its way to India around the 2026 festive season. The SUV is likely to be positioned between the Venue and Creta in Hyundai’s lineup.
Recent teasers have indicated a distinctive design with sharp LED lighting, uniquely styled alloy wheels and a redesigned rear profile. The Bayon is expected to use a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, while reports also point towards a possible CNG version.
Tata Safari EV and Toyota Glanza Facelift
The Tata Safari EV is also expected to arrive during the 2026 festive period. It will be Tata’s upcoming three-row electric SUV and is expected to use the Acti.EV+ architecture, similar to the Harrier EV.
The Safari EV could be offered with 65kWh and 75kWh battery options, while an all-wheel-drive version may also be introduced. Although its overall proportions and spacious three-row layout are expected to remain familiar, the electric SUV could receive a redesigned exterior and additional technology inside the cabin.
Meanwhile, Toyota is scheduled to unveil the Glanza facelift on October 14, 2026. The updated hatchback could receive styling and feature changes inspired by the Maruti Suzuki Baleno facelift.
One of the biggest changes could be the introduction of a new 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine. The facelift is expected to bring a refreshed appearance and updated mechanical package to Toyota’s premium hatchback.
Mahindra Thar Facelift and Honda Elevate Update
The three-door Mahindra Thar facelift is scheduled to launch on September 22, 2026. Mahindra has already released teasers showing changes to the front section.
Along with the revised exterior, the updated Thar is expected to receive improvements to its cabin and equipment list. The fundamental character of the off-road SUV is expected to remain intact, while the facelift could bring a more modern appearance and additional features.
Honda is also preparing a major update for the Elevate. Its first significant facelift is expected to be introduced in early October 2026.
The refreshed SUV could receive redesigned lighting elements, revised bumpers and new alloy wheels, along with updates to the interior. Major mechanical changes are not expected, with the existing 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine likely to continue. Manual and CVT transmission options are also expected to remain available.
Renault Triber to Get Turbo Petrol and CNG
The Renault Triber is expected to receive an important update by the end of September 2026. The upcoming model could get a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine sourced from the Kiger, with an expected output of around 100 hp.
A factory-fitted CNG version is also expected to join the lineup. The CNG model could use a dual-cylinder setup, potentially giving buyers another fuel option in the seven-seater MPV segment.
With these updates, Renault is expected to focus on improving the Triber’s performance and practicality while retaining its existing seven-seater positioning.
