Xiaomi is preparing to introduce its next flagship smartphone lineup in China, with the Xiaomi 18 Pro series scheduled to launch on September 23. The company has been gradually revealing details about the upcoming phones through a series of teasers.

The new lineup is expected to include the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max. Xiaomi has now confirmed that both smartphones will be unveiled during a new product launch event at 7:00 PM China time on September 23.

The company has also released a teaser poster carrying the phrase “Full Upgrade”, highlighting five major upgrades. Both models are expected to use the same chip platform, camera technology and display technology.

Xiaomi 18 Pro Series May Get a 2nm Chip

One of the biggest highlights of the upcoming phones is expected to be their processor. Xiaomi says both models will use a flagship mobile chip manufactured using a 2nm GAA process.

According to the company, the new chip is designed to deliver improvements in both processing performance and power efficiency. Xiaomi has not yet officially disclosed the processor’s name. However, it is widely expected to be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6.

The timing of the Xiaomi launch also coincides with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit, which is scheduled to take place from September 22 to 24.

Dual 200MP Cameras and New Display Technology

The Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max are also expected to receive a Leica-branded camera system featuring two 200MP sensors. The setup is reportedly expected to include a large-sensor primary camera and a periscope telephoto camera equipped with another large sensor.

Earlier, tipster Digital Chat Station shared real-world images that reportedly revealed a 17mm to 75mm focal range and 3.2x periscope zoom. These camera specifications have not yet been officially confirmed by Xiaomi.

For the display, Xiaomi is introducing a next-generation Super Pixel panel. The technology is said to use the company’s M11 light-emitting system along with new green light-emitting materials.

Battery capacity could also be a major difference between the two models. The Xiaomi 18 Pro is expected to feature a 7,000mAh battery, while the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max could pack an 8,500mAh battery.

Xiaomi has not mentioned charging speeds in its latest launch poster. However, two Xiaomi models received 3C certification in August with support for 100W wired charging.

Xiaomi 17 Pro Max: Previous Generation Specifications

The Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, which belongs to the company’s previous flagship generation, was launched with a 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED display. It also featured a 2.9-inch secondary screen on the rear along with a triple-camera system.

The smartphone was powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. It came with a 7,500mAh battery and supported 100W wired charging as well as 50W wireless charging.

With the Xiaomi 18 Pro series launch now confirmed for September 23, more official information about the phones’ specifications and features is expected to be revealed at the event.
