The proposed train would pass through important stations including Prayagraj and Kanpur. Railway officials are reportedly targeting an introduction around the Diwali period, while trial runs are expected to begin in September. However, the Railway Board has not yet announced the train number, final fare or confirmed date for regular operations.

Delhi-Varanasi Vande Bharat Sleeper Timings

According to the proposed schedule, the sleeper train will depart from Varanasi Cantt at 9:20 pm and reach New Delhi at around 5:00 am the following morning.

During the journey, the train is expected to reach Prayagraj at approximately 10:45 pm and pass through Kanpur Central around 12:35 am.

For the return journey, the proposed service will leave New Delhi at 9:20 pm and reach Varanasi at about 5:00 am the next day. The final timetable, however, may change after trials and operational clearances.

Speed and Travel Time

The Vande Bharat Sleeper is being planned as an overnight high-speed service for long-distance passengers. The proposed train could operate at speeds ranging from 130 kmph to 160 kmph, depending on track conditions and progress under the Mission Raftaar project.

The higher operating speed is expected to reduce travel time between Delhi, Prayagraj and Varanasi. The proposed overnight schedule would also allow passengers to travel while sleeping and reach their destination in the morning.

Coaches and Passenger Capacity

The proposed Vande Bharat Sleeper will have 16 coaches with a total passenger capacity of 823.

The coach configuration is expected to include 11 AC three-tier coaches, four AC two-tier coaches and one First AC coach. The train will also feature the modern passenger amenities associated with the Vande Bharat Sleeper series.

When Will the Train Start?

Indian Railways is reportedly aiming to introduce the Delhi-Varanasi Vande Bharat Sleeper around Diwali. Trial operations are likely to begin in September before the service is opened for regular passengers.

However, passengers should note that the regular launch date, train number and fare structure have not yet been officially announced by the Railway Board. The final timings and operating speed could also be revised depending on the trial results and required operational approvals.
