Gold prices in Vietnam declined for the third consecutive trading session on September 17, with domestic gold bars falling sharply as the local market reacted to movements in global bullion prices following the latest US Federal Reserve interest-rate decision.
The Federal Reserve raised its benchmark interest rate by 0.25 percentage point on September 16, taking the target range to 3.75%–4%. The decision strengthened the focus on the US dollar and Treasury yields, both of which can influence demand for non-yielding assets such as gold.

What Buyers Should Check Before Purchasing Gold
Gold buyers should compare rates from different jewellers before making a purchase, as prices can differ between cities and sellers. The headline gold rate may also not represent the final amount payable.
For jewellery purchases, buyers should check the applicable GST, making charges, wastage charges and any other additional costs. Purity, weight and hallmarking details should also be verified before completing the transaction.
The MCX price and retail jewellery rates should not be treated as identical benchmarks. Futures-market prices and jeweller quotations can differ because of premiums, taxes and other charges.
Buyers who do not need to make an immediate large purchase may also consider market conditions and avoid committing the entire amount at a single price, particularly when gold prices are moving sharply.
Festival and wedding demand can also influence local premiums and jewellery charges. Comparing quotations from multiple jewellers can therefore help buyers understand the final cost before purchasing.
Disclaimer: Gold prices are indicative and may vary by city, jeweller and time of purchase. The quoted rates may exclude GST, making charges, wastage and other applicable costs. Buyers should confirm the final price with the jeweller before making a purchase.
