Gold and Silver Price Today, September 15: Gold prices in India’s retail bullion market moved lower on Tuesday, with both 24-karat and 22-karat gold witnessing a marginal decline across major cities. Silver prices also eased during the session.
The movement in precious metal prices comes amid continued uncertainty surrounding the US-Iran conflict, while rising crude oil prices are adding to concerns in global markets. Investors are closely watching developments in the Middle East as tensions continue to influence commodity markets.
Gold and Silver Prices Today
In the domestic retail market, 24K gold is considered the highest-purity form of the metal, while 22K gold is widely preferred for jewellery because its composition makes it more durable.
On the global front, spot gold was relatively steady at $4,300.96 per ounce at 0157 GMT, after touching its lowest level since August 7 on Monday. US gold futures declined 0.3% to $4,341.10.
Meanwhile, crude oil prices continued to rise on Tuesday amid reports of fresh Houthi strikes on Saudi Arabia and attacks on vessels by Iran in the Gulf.
According to CNBC US, Brent crude futures for November delivery rose 1.25% to $107.00 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures for October gained 1.27% to $102.68 per barrel.
Saudi Arabia also shut its critical East-West pipeline, which provides an alternative route to the Strait of Hormuz, after drones launched from Iraq caused damage to the facility. The development has added to concerns over global oil supplies at a time when the market remains tight.

Why Are Gold and Silver Prices Changing?
Precious metal prices are influenced by several global and domestic factors. International geopolitical tensions, movements in crude oil prices, currency fluctuations, interest-rate expectations and investor demand can all affect bullion prices.
The latest rise in oil prices amid increasing tensions in the Middle East has added another layer of uncertainty to financial markets. Traders are therefore keeping a close watch on developments that could influence the direction of gold and silver.
24K vs 22K Gold: What’s the Difference?
24-karat gold has the highest purity and is generally considered the purest form of gold used in the market.
22-karat gold, on the other hand, contains a small proportion of other metals. This makes it harder and more suitable for making jewellery. As a result, jewellery buyers commonly choose 22K gold, while 24K gold is often preferred for investment purposes and certain high-purity products.
