Kia Carnival Hybrid: Kia is preparing to expand its premium MPV lineup in India with the upcoming Carnival Hybrid. The company has now opened pre-bookings for the hybrid version, indicating that its official launch is approaching.

The powertrain and several key features of the upcoming MPV have already been revealed. The Carnival Hybrid will combine a turbo-petrol engine with an electric motor and will continue to be offered alongside the existing diesel-powered version.

Kia Carnival Hybrid Gets 1.6-Litre Turbo-Petrol Hybrid Powertrain

The upcoming Kia Carnival Hybrid will be powered by a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol strong-hybrid system, similar to the setup used in the Kia Sorento Hybrid.

The petrol engine itself produces 180 hp and 265 Nm of torque. Working together with the electric motor, the hybrid powertrain is designed to deliver strong performance while improving efficiency.

The system will be paired with a 6-speed torque-converter automatic transmission.

Kia will continue offering the 2.2-litre diesel engine with the Carnival as well. The diesel unit produces 193 hp and comes with an 8-speed automatic gearbox, giving buyers the choice between conventional diesel power and hybrid technology.

Carnival Hybrid Design Remains Familiar

Kia has largely retained the existing Carnival’s exterior styling for the hybrid model. The most noticeable change will be the ‘HEV’ badge on the tailgate, which will identify the electrified version.

The MPV will continue with Kia’s distinctive tiger-face grille, vertically positioned LED headlights and LED daytime running lights. Other highlights include powered sliding doors, 18-inch alloy wheels and connected LED tail lamps.

Overall, the hybrid version is expected to maintain the same premium road presence as the current Carnival.

Premium Interior and Feature List

The Carnival Hybrid will offer several features aimed at improving passenger comfort and convenience.

Among the highlights are a virtual engine sound system and retractable, height-adjustable seat-back tables. These tables also incorporate wireless smartphone charging, adding convenience for passengers on long journeys.

The dashboard gets dual 12.3-inch displays, serving as the infotainment and driver-information screens. Other premium equipment includes three-zone climate control and a 12-speaker Bose audio system.

Kia Carnival Hybrid Safety Features

Kia has also equipped the hybrid MPV with a comprehensive safety package.

The Carnival Hybrid will feature eight airbags along with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). The safety equipment also includes front and rear disc brakes and a 360-degree camera to assist with parking and manoeuvring.

Kia Carnival Hybrid Expected Price

Kia has not announced the official price of the Carnival Hybrid yet.

For reference, the existing Carnival Limousine+ diesel is priced at ₹59.65 lakh (ex-showroom). Since the hybrid version gets additional electrification hardware and a more advanced powertrain, its price is expected to be higher than the diesel variant.

The final price will be confirmed by Kia at the time of the official launch.

Kia Carnival Hybrid Pre-Bookings Now Open

Kia has started accepting pre-bookings for the Carnival Hybrid, which will be offered in the Limousine+ trim currently available with the diesel engine.

With a strong-hybrid powertrain, premium cabin, advanced safety technology and a long list of comfort features, the upcoming Carnival Hybrid could attract buyers looking for a more sophisticated alternative in the premium MPV segment.

The official launch is expected soon, with the final price and other details likely to be announced by Kia closer to the launch.
