Namit Malhotra’s much-awaited mythological epic Ramayana, featuring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role, is reportedly set for a global theatrical release on Thursday, November 5, 2026. The proposed date brings the film forward by a day from its earlier schedule of Friday, November 6.
The revised release plan is aimed at giving the film an early start ahead of the Diwali holiday period. If confirmed, audiences in India and overseas markets could get access to the film through Thursday evening preview shows before the main festive weekend begins.
‘Ramayana’ Could Arrive in Theatres on November 5
The film was previously expected to release on November 6, 2026. However, according to trade reports, the makers and distributors are now considering November 5 for the worldwide launch.
Thursday previews have increasingly become part of major international theatrical releases, allowing films to build early audience response before the weekend. For Ramayana, a simultaneous release in India and international markets could also provide a longer opening window during the Diwali period.
A report by Bollywood Hungama stated that the production team and distributors have been working around the November 5 timeline. A trade source quoted by the portal said that the makers have decided on the Thursday release and are planning to launch the film in India and overseas on the same day. However, the source added that the date is still awaiting final approval before an official announcement is made.
Dharma Productions is handling the film’s distribution in India, while Sony Pictures has the international theatrical rights. The proposed simultaneous worldwide release would allow audiences across markets to watch the film on the same day.
Ranbir Kapoor Leads Star-Studded Cast
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is planned as a two-part cinematic adaptation of the ancient Indian epic.
Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Rama, with Sai Pallavi portraying Sita. Sunny Deol features as Lord Hanuman, while KGF star Yash takes on the role of Ravana.
The film’s music is being created through a collaboration between Academy Award winners AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer. The project also includes extensive visual effects by Oscar-winning VFX company DNEG.
‘Ramayana’ Part 2 Set for Diwali 2027
The production has been filmed specifically for the IMAX format, adding to the scale of the upcoming theatrical release.
If the revised schedule receives final confirmation, Ramayana: Part 1 will arrive in cinemas on November 5, 2026. The second instalment is currently scheduled to release theatrically during Diwali 2027.
