Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part 1 is gearing up for its theatrical debut, and audiences now have an update on where they can watch the highly anticipated mythological film online. Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash, the movie will make its digital debut on JioHotstar after completing its theatrical run in cinemas.
The announcement confirms that the film will follow an exclusive pay-per-view model on the streaming platform, meaning viewers will need to purchase access separately rather than rely on a regular subscription.
Ramayana OTT Release Date and Streaming Details
Ramayana: Part 1 is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 5, 2026. Following its cinema run, the film will be available digitally in India on JioHotstar through an on-demand purchase option.
The partnership between JioHotstar and Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios aims to make the epic accessible to audiences across the country, including those who may not have the opportunity to experience it in theatres.
However, the makers have not yet announced the film’s exact OTT premiere date or its pay-per-view price. Viewers will therefore have to wait for further details about when and how they can purchase access to the movie.
Namit Malhotra, founder and CEO of DNEG and producer of the film, explained that the story deserves to be experienced on the biggest possible screen, particularly in IMAX 3D. However, he acknowledged that cinema infrastructure cannot reach everyone who feels connected to the epic.
Malhotra said JioHotstar was a natural partner because of its ability to connect audiences across India through sports and entertainment. He added that the digital release would allow people to experience Ramayana in their homes after its theatrical run.
Nita M Ambani, Chairperson of JioStar, also highlighted the collaboration’s aim of making compelling stories more accessible, describing Ramayana as one of India’s greatest civilisational treasures.

Ramayana’s Budget and Sequel Plans

The second instalment is anticipated to release during Diwali 2027. The combined budget for both films, including marketing expenses, is estimated at INR 4,000 crore, reflecting the ambitious scale of the adaptation of Valmiki’s ancient Sanskrit epic.
Advance bookings for Ramayana: Part 1 began across India on October 20, 2026, on the occasion of Dussehra. With its theatrical release approaching and a digital premiere planned for JioHotstar, the film is preparing for a major rollout across cinemas and, subsequently, online platforms.
While the OTT release date and purchase price remain unconfirmed, audiences can look forward to watching the mythological epic digitally after its exclusive theatrical window.
