Veteran actor Nana Patekar was cremated with full state honours at his farmhouse in Donje village, Pune district, on Thursday. The final rites included a 3-gun salute as a mark of respect to the late actor.
Several prominent personalities from the film industry attended the funeral to pay their last respects. Among those present were actor Jackie Shroff, directors Anil Sharma and Aneez Bazmee, and producer Firoz Nadiadwala. A large number of people also gathered in Donje to bid farewell to the veteran star.
Maharashtra Leaders Pay Their Respects
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis paid tribute to Nana Patekar at Pune airport before departing for Mumbai. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the actor’s farmhouse in Pune to offer his condolences and pay his respects.
The presence of political leaders, film personalities and members of the public reflected the widespread grief following the actor’s reported demise.
Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn Remember the Veteran Actor
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan paid tribute to Nana Patekar through his Instagram Stories. Sharing a brief emotional message, Salman wrote, “Nanaaaaa… Rest in peace bhau”.
Ajay Devgn also expressed his grief on X. The actor shared a still from their film Apaharan and remembered Nana Patekar for his remarkable screen presence and memorable performances.
In his tribute, Ajay wrote, “Not many made us happy, sad and feel anger quite the way Nana did. His presence was powerful, his performances unforgettable, and his absence will now be deeply felt. Rest well, Nana. Om Shanti”.
Kamal Haasan Pays Tribute to Nana Patekar
Veteran actor Kamal Haasan also mourned Nana Patekar’s passing through a post on X. Alongside a throwback photograph with the late actor, he shared a heartfelt message highlighting both his artistic achievements and his contributions beyond cinema.
Kamal described Nana Patekar as an extraordinary artist and a remarkable human being whose influence extended beyond the screen. He also acknowledged the actor’s work in support of farmers in Maharashtra and his volunteer service during the Kargil War.
Offering his condolences to the bereaved family and admirers, Kamal wrote, “Heartbreaking news of Nana Patekar Ji’s passing. An extraordinary artist and an even greater human being. The man was a force of nature, and he uplifted the lives of those around him. Beyond the screen, his work helping farmers in Maharashtra and his volunteer service during the Kargil War spoke volumes about his deep sense of duty. My deepest condolences to his family and his legions of fans”.
