Ed Sheeran has made his entry into Bollywood with a special collaboration featuring Shah Rukh Khan. The international singer has contributed vocals to Tu Mil Jaaye, a song from SRK’s upcoming film King. The track has now been released and is available across music streaming platforms.
Announcing the release through Instagram, Ed shared the story behind the collaboration and explained how a conversation with Shah Rukh Khan eventually turned into his first Bollywood project.
How Ed Sheeran and Shah Rukh Khan Planned Their Bollywood Collaboration
Ed Sheeran revealed that the idea for the song dates back to his first meeting with Shah Rukh Khan. During their conversation, the Bollywood superstar suggested that Ed should create a song for his next film.
The singer said the opportunity would also mark his first Bollywood song. As the two continued to develop their friendship over the years, the idea eventually became a reality. Ed also expressed his admiration for Shah Rukh in his Instagram post, saying that he loves the actor.
From Sapphire Music Video to Tu Mil Jaaye
The collaboration took a step forward during Ed Sheeran’s most recent visit to India. The singer visited Shah Rukh Khan’s residence to request a special appearance from the actor in the music video of Sapphire, his collaboration with Arijit Singh.
During the same meeting, Shah Rukh introduced Ed to music composers Sachin-Jigar. Ed revealed that he wrote and recorded his portion of Tu Mil Jaaye on that very night for the film King.
Arijit Singh Joins Ed Sheeran for Tu Mil Jaaye
Ed also shared his excitement about collaborating with Arijit Singh once again. The Indian singer has lent his voice to Tu Mil Jaaye alongside Ed, bringing the two artists together for another musical project.
The singers previously worked together on Sapphire, making this their second collaboration. Ed expressed happiness about having some of his favourite people involved in the same project.
Shah Rukh Khan’s King Release Date
Directed by Siddharth Anand, King is scheduled to arrive in theatres on December 24. While audiences still have to wait for the film’s release, they can listen to Tu Mil Jaaye, which is already available on music streaming platforms.
The song marks Ed Sheeran’s first Bollywood musical contribution and adds another international collaboration to Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film.
