Madhya Pradesh government employees and pensioners are waiting for a revision in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR). Around 12 lakh employees and pensioners in the state are demanding benefits at the same rates as Central Government employees.

The demand has gained momentum after the Central Government approved a 3% increase in DA and DR ahead of Diwali. Now, Madhya Pradesh employees are hoping that Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will announce a similar benefit on November 1, the state’s Foundation Day.

MP DA Hike: Employees Expect an Announcement on November 1

Currently, Madhya Pradesh government employees are receiving 58% Dearness Allowance. Following the Centre’s latest decision, central employees will receive DA at the rate of 63%, effective July 1, 2026.

This has created a five-percentage-point difference between the DA rates of central and Madhya Pradesh government employees.

Employee organisations have urged the state government to remove this gap and provide DA and DR benefits at the same rate and from the same effective date as the Centre.

Umashankar Tiwari, State General Secretary of the Third Class Employees Union, said state employees had been lagging behind central employees in DA benefits for the past 10 months. He has called for equal allowances for both state employees and pensioners.

Will Madhya Pradesh Employees Get a 2% DA Hike?

There is growing speculation that the Madhya Pradesh government may announce a 2% DA increase on November 1, 2026, during the state’s Foundation Day celebrations.

According to official sources mentioned in the report, the government is considering this increase. However, no formal confirmation has been issued so far.

Employee organisations are not fully satisfied with the possibility of a 2% hike. They want the government to address the entire five-percentage-point difference between the state and central DA rates.

The issue has also led to protests by employee groups in Bhopal. The State Officers-Employees Pensioners Joint Front is preparing to hold a demonstration outside Satpura Bhawan on November 4 to press for its pending demands.

Pensioners Demand DA, DR Increase and Pending Arrears

Along with government employees, pensioners are also seeking an increase in Dearness Relief and the payment of outstanding arrears.

Amod Saxena, State President of the Pensioners Welfare Association, has written to the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary of the Finance Department regarding the issue.

He has demanded a 2% increase in Dearness Relief from January 1, 2026, followed by another 3% increase effective July 1, 2026.

Ganesh Dutt Joshi, Patron of the association, has also urged the government to ensure that all pending payments and outstanding dues are cleared without further delay.

With November 1 approaching, employees and pensioners are now waiting for the Madhya Pradesh government’s decision on DA, DR and arrears.
