Ranbir Kapoor has shared details of his memorable marriage proposal to Alia Bhatt during a trip to Kenya, revealing that three lions were standing just 100 feet away when he popped the question. The actor recalled the unusual circumstances with humour, describing himself as a “mouse” in front of his “lioness” while asking Alia to marry him.
Ranbir Kapoor Reveals His Proposal Plan on KBC
During his appearance on Sony Entertainment Television’s Kaun Banega Crorepati, Ranbir opened up about planning the proposal during their visit to the Maasai Mara in Kenya in 2022. Speaking to host Amitabh Bachchan, the actor explained that he had already coordinated with his guide and driver to find a suitable spot in the jungle.
Ranbir had secretly arranged a ring and wanted the driver to capture the special moment from a distance. He explained that he hoped to get down on one knee while the proposal was photographed, believing that pictures would be important to Alia.
Sharing his original plan, Ranbir said, “Maine pehle se hi apna jo guide hai, jo driver hai, maine unko ek tip de di thi ki aap kahin jaake rok dena beech jungle mein… main main ek angoothi laya tha ki main apne ghutno mein jaunga aur aap door se photograph khichna kyunki ladkiyon ko photographs ka bahut shauk hai.. Instagram pe dalne ka, toh maine socha ki yeh bahut zaroori tha Alia ke liye..”
He explained that he had tipped his guide, who was also his driver, and asked him to stop somewhere in the jungle. His plan was to kneel with the ring and have the moment photographed from afar so Alia could have pictures to share on Instagram.
Three Lions Made the Proposal Unforgettable
Amitabh Bachchan responded to the story with a humorous observation about the importance of having photographic proof of such a special occasion. Ranbir confirmed that he had brought the ring from home, but the situation was far more intimidating than he had anticipated.
The actor revealed that three male lions were standing approximately 100 feet away, while Alia stood in front of him. Recalling the moment, he compared himself to a mouse proposing to his lioness.
Ranbir said, “There were three male lions about 100 feet away, my lioness was standing in front of me, and I was like a mouse, down on my knees, asking, ‘Baby, will you marry me?’”
He described the proposal as an extraordinary experience that he would always remember.
Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s Relationship
Ranbir and Alia fell in love while working together on their film Brahmastra. After dating for a couple of years, the actors got married in April 2022. The couple welcomed their daughter, Raha, in November of the same year.
