Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal has apologised to singer Daler Mehndi during a phone conversation following the controversy surrounding the singer’s interrupted performance at a religious event in Uttarakhand. Responding to the development, Mika Singh’s team issued a statement welcoming the apology and expressing hope that the matter could now be resolved amicably.
The statement emphasised the importance of respecting artists and recognising their contributions to the music industry. It also highlighted that every performer deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of the circumstances.
Mika Singh’s Team Welcomes the Apology
Reacting to Uniyal’s apology, Mika Singh’s team acknowledged the gesture and expressed appreciation for the minister’s communication with Daler Mehndi.
“We appreciate that Subodh Uniyal ji has apologised to Daler Mehndi paaji over a telephonic conversation regarding the unfortunate incident. Respecting artists and their dignity is extremely important. Daler paaji is a senior artist who has contributed immensely to the music industry, and every artist deserves to be treated with respect (sic),” the statement read.
The team further stated that it hoped everyone could put the incident behind them and move forward with mutual respect and understanding.
Pushkar Singh Dhami Apologises on Behalf of Minister
On Friday, Mika Singh said that Daler Mehndi did not want the controversy to continue any further after Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami apologised on behalf of Subodh Uniyal.
Mika revealed that the Chief Minister had invited both brothers to Uttarakhand. He added that they intended to visit the state for a performance soon.
During a press conference, Mika also spoke about his conversation with Dhami, whom he described as an elder brother, a dear friend and someone he deeply respects.
“Just this morning, I spoke with my elder brother, dear friend, and someone I hold in high regard, the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami. Whenever I visit Dehradun, he meets me with great warmth and is extremely down-to-earth. The way he communicated with Daler Paaji and me was very polite and humble. He offered an apology on behalf of the Minister, and though I told him it wasn’t necessary since he made no mistake.”

The controversy began when Daler Mehndi’s performance at the Siddhpeeth Maa Kunjapuri Tourism and Development Fair was interrupted by Uttarakhand minister Subodh Uniyal.
During the religious event held amid Navratri celebrations, Uniyal reportedly alleged that the singer was under the influence of alcohol and was lip-syncing. The incident subsequently drew attention, leading to reactions from Mika Singh and others.
With apologies now having been extended, Mika Singh’s team has expressed hope that the issue can be put to rest and that all parties can move forward with mutual respect.
