Prabhas and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming action thriller Spirit will arrive in theatres later than originally scheduled. The film, which was previously planned for a worldwide release on March 5, 2027, is now set to hit cinemas on October 29, 2027, during the Diwali festive season.
The revised release date places Spirit in one of the major theatrical windows of the year. It could also bring the film into competition with Ramayana Part 2, the next instalment of the mythological epic directed by Nitesh Tiwari and backed by Namit Malhotra. However, the possibility of a box-office clash will depend on the final release schedule of both films.
Spirit May Face Competition from Ramayana Part 2
The October 29, 2027, release could make Spirit part of a major festive-season box-office contest. Ramayana Part 2, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi, is another anticipated release that may arrive around the same period.
With Prabhas leading the cast and Vanga directing, Spirit brings together a prominent actor-director combination. Its Diwali release could help it reach audiences during the holiday period, although a direct clash with Ramayana Part 2 has not yet been confirmed.
The new date also marks a considerable shift from the film’s original March 2027 schedule.
Spirit First Look and Cast Details
Spirit was officially announced on October 23, 2025, on the occasion of Prabhas’ birthday. The announcement included a sound-story teaser titled “One Bad Habit”, which offered an early glimpse of the film’s intense atmosphere and revealed that Prabhas would play a police officer.
The actor is set to portray an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer. Vivek Oberoi will appear in an antagonist role, while Triptii Dimri and Aishwarya Desai are also part of the cast.
The film’s first-look poster was released on January 1, 2026. It featured Prabhas with long hair, a rugged appearance and visible injuries, offering a glimpse of his character’s look in the action thriller.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Film Gets a Revised Schedule
Sandeep Reddy Vanga has written and directed Spirit. The project is backed by Bhushan Kumar, Pranay Reddy Vanga, Krishan Kumar and Prabhakar Reddy Vanga, with T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures associated with its production.
The film was originally scheduled to release worldwide on March 5, 2027. Vanga reiterated that date in August 2026 while sharing an update on the production timeline.
With the release now scheduled for October 29, 2027, Spirit is positioned for the Diwali season. Whether it will compete directly with Ramayana Part 2 remains to be seen as the release plans for both projects become clearer.
