Referring to the film’s place in the actor’s celebrated career, the composer wrote that, for the 172nd time, cinema screens would light up as fans gathered to celebrate their favourite star.
He concluded his post with the words, “One Sun. One Moon. And One :)” and tagged Rajinikanth, director Nelson Dilipkumar and production house Sun Pictures.
Jailer 2 Receives U/A Certificate Ahead of Release
The Central Board of Film Certification has cleared Jailer 2 for release with a U/A certificate. Sun Pictures, the production house behind the film, announced the development through its official social media accounts, confirming that the censor formalities had been completed.
The announcement comes shortly after the makers released the film’s trailer, giving fans a glimpse of the action, suspense and confrontations awaiting them in the sequel.
The trailer opens with a character played by Suraj Venjaramoodu questioning a person held hostage. He asks whether the captive has discovered anything about the individual responsible for the situation over the previous two months. The hostage responds that even the person questioning him will be unable to track down the man they are looking for.
The mystery surrounding the unidentified figure continues as several antagonists attempt to discover who is behind the unfolding events. Rajinikanth eventually appears as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, the central character of the film.
The trailer reveals that Muthuvel Pandian has deliberately stayed out of sight by posing as a driver. His decision to remain undercover is intended to help him determine whether the villains are operating under a higher authority. At one point, Suraj Venjaramoodu’s character is seen asking his associates whether they have managed to locate their target.
Rajinikanth’s Tiger Muthuvel Pandian Faces New Enemies
The trailer also offers glimpses of the film’s action sequences and the strategies employed by the opposing sides. Tiger Muthuvel Pandian uses snipers against his enemies, prompting a character played by S J Suryah to suggest that they can respond with similar force.
Another notable moment features a conversation between Rajinikanth and Vidya Balan. When her character asks whether he would prefer tea or coffee, he politely declines. She responds by clarifying that the choice is between the two beverages, rather than whether he wants a drink at all.
The trailer also introduces the feared Kalpaks, who are described as people unlikely to spare anyone who crosses their path. When Muthuvel Pandian is warned about them, he responds with a smile before preparing to confront the threat himself.
In a direct warning to the group, he contrasts their traditional methods of intimidation with a more modern approach to dealing with enemies. He tells them, “All this is the style employed in the time of your father. Now, getting all your enemies to one place and bombing that place is what is the present trend.”
Jailer 2 Set for Worldwide Theatrical Release
Jailer 2 has generated considerable anticipation since the project was first announced, with Rajinikanth’s return as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian being a major highlight for fans.
In April 2026, the filmmakers announced that shooting had been completed. The production team marked the occasion by sharing photographs from a cake-cutting celebration held to commemorate the end of filming.
With the U/A certification secured and the trailer already released, the Nelson Dilipkumar-directed action entertainer is scheduled to arrive in cinemas worldwide on October 15, 2026. Anirudh’s tribute has added to the excitement surrounding the film’s release, celebrating Rajinikanth’s enduring popularity and his long-standing connection with audiences.
