The upcoming period film Ranabaali, starring Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, has received a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, the film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 16, 2026.
Production house Mythri Movie Makers announced the certification through its official social media accounts, sharing the update ahead of the film’s release.
The makers described the project as a story passed down through generations and invited audiences to experience what they called a legendary chapter of history on the big screen. Their announcement also confirmed the worldwide release date and encouraged viewers to book their tickets.
Ranabaali Release Date and Cast Details
Ranabaali is among the much-anticipated films of the year, with considerable interest surrounding its historical setting and lead cast. The film was initially scheduled to arrive in cinemas on September 11, 2026, before its release was moved to October 16.
Vijay Deverakonda plays the titular character, Ranabaali, while Rashmika Mandanna portrays Jayamma, his wife. Arnold Vosloo, known for his role in The Mummy, appears as the antagonist, Sir Theodore Hector.
The film marks the third on-screen collaboration between Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, following their appearances together in Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade.
A Period Action Drama Set During British Rule
Produced on a grand scale by Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar, Ranabaali is presented by T-Series. The film is designed as a pan-India period action drama set against the backdrop of British rule in India.
Set in the 19th century, the story draws on historical events associated with the period between 1854 and 1878. According to reports, the film takes inspiration from incidents that received limited attention in mainstream historical accounts, particularly events from the 1850s and the broader period between 1850 and 1900.
The narrative reportedly aims to explore historical incidents that, according to the sources associated with the project, were misrepresented by the British. Its historical setting and action-driven storyline form the foundation of the film.
Ranabaali Is Not a Conventional Biopic
Reports suggest that Ranabaali will not follow the format of a traditional biopic or offer a straightforward retelling of textbook history. Instead, the film is described as a cinematic reconstruction of a historical era, drawing from multiple real accounts, oral histories and records that received limited attention.
With its U/A certification now secured and its theatrical release scheduled for October 16, 2026, the film is gearing up for its worldwide debut. The combination of a historical narrative, an action-driven storyline and the reunion of Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna is expected to remain a major focus of audience interest ahead of its release.
