Karan Johar is preparing to bring Koffee With Karan to an end, and Salman Khan will be the first guest on the show’s ninth and final season. The new season premieres on October 14 on JioHotstar, marking Salman’s first solo appearance on the popular celebrity chat show.
Koffee With Karan 9 Promo Features Salman Khan
The first promo has already caught viewers’ attention with an emotional yet humorous exchange between Karan Johar and Salman Khan. When Karan tells Salman that he will not return with another season, Salman responds with a memorable line from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, asking him not to leave.
Salman also jokes about launching his own chat show, which he calls Every Koffee With Salman. Karan reminds him that this is the finale season, meaning their conversation could take any direction. Salman appears ready to embrace the moment, setting the tone for an entertaining opening episode.
Why Is Karan Johar Ending Koffee With Karan?
Karan Johar’s decision to step away from the show reportedly comes after considerable thought. The filmmaker has said that he made the choice with a heavy heart and wants to dedicate the next decade to directing more films.
Having first aired 22 years ago, Koffee With Karan has been a significant part of Karan’s career. The show has grown from an initially uncertain idea into one of the country’s most widely discussed celebrity talk shows.
Karan has previously recalled that his father, producer Yash Johar, was sceptical when he first proposed the concept. The show’s journey since then has made its reported conclusion particularly significant. Despite Salman’s request for him to reconsider, Karan has indicated that he intends to focus on filmmaking rather than continue hosting the series.
Salman Khan Returns After Nearly a Decade
Salman Khan has appeared on Koffee With Karan several times over the years. He made his debut on the show in Season 4 and later returned for its 100th episode alongside his brothers, Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan.
The actor also appeared on the show with his father. His last appearance was in 2016, making his return after nearly a decade a notable moment for the upcoming season.
The episode featuring Salman Khan will stream on JioHotstar from October 14 at 7 PM.
