Ration card holders are being advised to complete their e-KYC verification to ensure continued access to benefits under the Public Distribution System (PDS). The process is intended to improve transparency in ration distribution and ensure that subsidised food grains reach eligible beneficiaries.

The Madhya Pradesh government has also urged ration card holders to complete the verification process. In a post on its official social media account on X, the government encouraged beneficiaries who have not completed e-KYC to visit their nearest fair price shop and finish the required formalities.

Failure to complete the prescribed verification may affect access to ration benefits, depending on the applicable government rules. Beneficiaries should therefore check their e-KYC status and follow the instructions issued by their state authorities.

Why Is Ration Card e-KYC Important?

The e-KYC process helps verify the identity of ration card holders and identify duplicate or potentially fraudulent entries in the beneficiary database. Aadhaar-based verification is used to help ensure that government ration benefits reach the people who are eligible to receive them.

Completing e-KYC also helps authorities maintain updated beneficiary records. Ration card holders who have not yet completed the process should confirm the applicable requirements with their local ration dealer or the relevant department.

How to Complete Ration Card e-KYC Online

Beneficiaries may be able to complete the verification process through their state’s Public Distribution System website, depending on the online facilities available.

The general steps are as follows:

  1. Visit the official PDS or Food and Civil Supplies Department website for your state.
  2. Look for the ration card services or e-KYC section.
  3. Follow the instructions provided on the portal and enter the required details.
  4. If Aadhaar-based OTP verification is available, use the mobile number registered with Aadhaar to receive the OTP.
  5. Complete the verification process and check for a confirmation message or status update.

Online procedures may differ from one state to another. Beneficiaries should use only official government websites and follow the instructions provided on their state’s portal.

How to Complete Ration Card e-KYC Offline

Ration card holders can visit their nearest fair price shop or an authorised PDS dealer to enquire about completing e-KYC offline.

The verification can be carried out using an electronic Point of Sale (ePOS) machine, where the facility is available. Beneficiaries living outside their home state may also be able to complete the process at a local ration shop, subject to the applicable arrangements and verification requirements.

Before visiting the shop, it is advisable to confirm the required documents and authentication method with the dealer to avoid unnecessary delays.
