LPG, CNG and PNG prices remained largely unchanged across major Indian cities on October 7, providing some relief to households and vehicle owners amid elevated energy costs. While domestic LPG cylinder prices have remained steady in key markets, commercial LPG rates continue to reflect the increase announced at the beginning of October.

CNG and PNG prices, meanwhile, differ from one city to another based on local taxes, distribution expenses and the pricing policies of individual city gas distributors.

The latest domestic fuel rates come at a time when global energy markets continue to experience volatility. In parts of Uttar Pradesh, CNG prices were recently increased by as much as Rs 3.25 per kg due to higher input gas costs, rising spot LNG prices and currency movements.

For consumers, LPG remains a major household expense, while CNG and PNG prices directly affect transportation and cooking costs. In Delhi, a 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder costs Rs 942, while CNG is priced at Rs 86.98 per kg and PNG at Rs 49.59 per standard cubic metre.

US-Iran War Update and Impact on Energy Markets

Oil shipments from the Gulf have recovered significantly in recent days despite an increase in attacks targeting vessels around the Strait of Hormuz, according to maritime experts and tracking data.

Maritime intelligence company Kpler reported that Gulf oil flows, excluding Iran, recovered to more than 81 per cent of pre-war levels in September. Crude exports from the wider Middle East also exceeded pre-war levels on 14 days during the month.

However, the recovery in oil flows has taken place alongside increased attacks on tankers. Shipping companies are also facing higher freight, insurance and security costs.

Trump said that “millions of barrels” of oil had moved through the Strait of Hormuz in recent days, claiming that transit volumes were reaching or exceeding pre-war levels.

For Indian consumers, international energy prices remain an important factor to watch, as changes in global oil and gas markets can eventually influence domestic fuel and cooking-energy costs.

Disclaimer: The prices mentioned in this article are based on the rates provided for October 7 and may vary by location or change due to revisions by fuel and city gas distributors. International energy-market developments can also affect future prices. Consumers should verify the latest applicable LPG, CNG and PNG rates with their local distributor or authorised source before making a purchase.
