Gold Prices in Major Indian Cities
In the retail market, 24-carat gold is considered the purest form, while 22-carat gold is widely used for jewellery because the addition of other metals makes it more durable.
Gold prices in India are influenced by international bullion prices, movements in the USD/INR exchange rate and expected demand during the festive shopping season.
The following rates represent base bullion prices. Buyers should note that physical gold purchases attract 3% GST on the value of the metal, while jewellery making charges carry a separate 5% GST. Import duties and transportation costs can also lead to differences in prices between regions.
