Indian Railways has announced 162 additional special trains to manage the expected rush during the Diwali and Chhath festive season. With this latest addition, a total of 580 special trains have been planned for the festive period.
The special services are aimed at passengers traveling from Mumbai and nearby areas to major destinations across Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Delhi. Central Railway has introduced these additional services to provide more travel options and help passengers facing long waiting lists on regular mail and express trains.
Several special trains will operate from Mumbai’s Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) and Pune’s Khadki station. Important routes include LTT–Samastipur, LTT–Danapur, LTT–Banaras, LTT–Santragachi, Khadki–Hazrat Nizamuddin and Khadki–Sanganer.
Valsad-Danapur Special Train Schedule
Among the announced services, Train No. 09025 Valsad-Danapur Special will operate every Monday. Its service has been extended until November 23.
In the opposite direction, Train No. 09026 Danapur-Valsad Special will run every Tuesday and will continue until November 24.
For passenger convenience, both trains will also make additional stops at Buxar and Ara. This will allow passengers from these stations to use the special services for their festive-season journeys.
How to Book Railway Tickets
Passengers can book reserved tickets through the computerized Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters of Indian Railways or through the official IRCTC website.
Those traveling in unreserved coaches can purchase tickets at regular fares through UTS counters or the UTS mobile application.
Passengers can also use the RailOne mobile app for ticket booking and accessing other railway-related services.
Why These Special Trains Matter
The additional festival services are intended to provide more travel capacity during the busy Diwali and Chhath period. With a large number of passengers traveling toward states such as Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, the additional trains are expected to provide more options for passengers who may otherwise face limited availability on regular services.
