Petrol and diesel prices remained largely stable across major Indian cities on Sunday, October 4, 2026. Consumers in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Bengaluru continued to see different fuel rates because petrol and diesel prices vary from one state to another due to taxes and local levies.

According to the latest available city-wise data, petrol in Delhi was priced at ₹102.12 per litre, while diesel was available at ₹95.20 per litre. Mumbai recorded a petrol price of ₹111.21 per litre and diesel at ₹97.83 per litre.

Gold Price Today: Rates Remain Higher

Gold prices also remained an important focus for buyers on October 4. In Delhi, the price of 24-carat gold reached ₹1,50,460 per 10 grams on October 3, up from ₹1,49,400 a day earlier. The 22-carat rate was ₹1,37,910 per 10 grams.

The available metro-city data showed 24-carat gold at around ₹1,50,460 per 10 grams in Chennai and ₹1,50,290 in Mumbai and Kolkata.

Gold prices can vary depending on the market, jeweller, purity and applicable charges. Retail jewellery purchases may also include GST and making charges, so the final amount paid by a customer can be higher than the quoted bullion rate.

Why Petrol, Diesel and Gold Prices Change

Petrol and diesel rates are influenced by international crude oil prices, currency movements, refining costs, freight, dealer margins and taxes imposed at the state level. This is why fuel prices are not identical across all Indian cities.

Gold prices, meanwhile, are affected by international bullion prices, currency movements and domestic market conditions. As a result, rates can move up or down from one trading session to another.
