Actor Ranvir Shorey has reacted to recent remarks by Rahul Bhatt about a physical altercation involving the actor and his sister, actress Pooja Bhatt, in 2002. The incident dates back more than two decades, when Shorey and Pooja Bhatt were in a relationship.

Rahul Bhatt recently spoke about the episode in a podcast, admitting that he overreacted during the confrontation and regretted taking matters into his own hands. His comments prompted Shorey to address the long-running controversy on social media.

Ranvir Shorey Says ‘Truth’ Has Finally Emerged

On Wednesday, September 30, 2026, Shorey took to X, to respond to Rahul Bhatt’s account of the incident.

“I’m glad over 20 years of malicious propaganda and slander has finally given way to some truth,” Shorey wrote. He also referred to what he described as a “missing piece” in the narrative, adding that defending oneself against violence to get away from a toxic situation should not be described as “hitting.”

Shorey has previously denied allegations of physical abuse made against him in connection with his relationship with Pooja Bhatt. He has also alleged that false claims about him were circulated in the media by filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt. During his appearance on Bigg Boss OTT 3, Shorey had described the controversy surrounding the 2002 episode as the “biggest scandal” of his life.

What Rahul Bhatt Said About The 2002 Incident

Rahul Bhatt discussed the incident during an appearance on Siddharth Kannan’s podcast. He recalled that there had been an argument between Ranvir Shorey and Pooja Bhatt, following which he intervened.

Rahul said his reaction was excessive and acknowledged that he had taken the law into his own hands. He claimed that he broke the glass of Shorey’s car and injured one of his ribs. He also revealed that he was arrested and charged following the incident.

Expressing regret, Rahul said he had “overreacted” and that he should not have responded in that manner.

He also spoke positively about Shorey’s conduct after the incident, saying the actor agreed to compound the offence and have the FIR quashed without asking for financial compensation or holding a grudge.

Rahul’s recent comments differ from an earlier statement he made to Hindi Rush, in which he had said he would take similar action again if someone “messed with” his sister.
