The beginning of October brings several changes that could affect consumers, bank customers, LPG users and railway passengers. From October 1, changes related to SBI ATM transactions, LPG subsidy authentication and railway ticket checking will come into effect.

At the same time, people planning to purchase products such as televisions, refrigerators and air conditioners may also have to pay more, with prices potentially increasing by up to 8%.

LPG Subsidy Rules Change

Oil marketing companies review LPG cylinder prices on the first day of every month, so new rates may also be announced from October 1. While commercial LPG prices have seen several recent revisions, domestic LPG cylinder prices have remained stable.

Aadhaar biometric authentication or e-KYC for LPG connections is also important for customers who want to receive the subsidy. Those who have not completed the required authentication may face difficulties in receiving their LPG subsidy.

SBI ATM Withdrawal Rules

State Bank of India (SBI) is changing the free ATM transaction limits for certain customers from October 1. The number of free monthly transactions at other banks’ ATMs will be reduced from 10 to five. The revised limit covers both financial and non-financial transactions.

For Basic Savings Bank Deposit Accounts opened through branches, customers will be charged ₹15 plus GST for each ATM withdrawal after the four free withdrawals allowed in a month.

Salary account holders will also see their free monthly transaction limit at other banks’ ATMs reduced from 10 to five. After the free limit is exhausted, financial transactions will attract a charge of ₹23 plus GST per transaction, while non-financial transactions will cost ₹11 plus GST.

Railway Ticket Checking Drive

Central Railway is scheduled to conduct a special ticket-checking campaign from October 1 to October 31.

Under the campaign, passengers will be required to follow the ‘One Ticket, One Original ID’ requirement. Railway officials have stated that carrying a valid ticket alone will not be sufficient for the journey; passengers must also carry their original identity proof.

TVs, Refrigerators and ACs May Become Costlier

Consumers planning to purchase electronic home appliances may also face higher prices from October 1. Products such as televisions, refrigerators and air conditioners are expected to become more expensive, with prices potentially rising by up to 8%.

Those planning to buy these appliances may therefore see a difference in prices once the new month begins.
