The Centre will conduct Special Campaign 6.0 from October 2 to October 31, 2026, with a focus on cleanliness, reducing administrative pendency and improving the management of government office resources.
According to a release from the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, the month-long campaign will also cover record management, better utilisation of office space and the proper disposal of electronic waste generated in government offices. The initiative aims to make cleanliness a regular part of administrative functioning while ensuring that pending matters are addressed within a defined timeframe.
A major focus of this year’s campaign will be electronic waste. The government will emphasise its collection, segregation and scientific disposal to ensure better management of e-waste across offices.
Three-Phase Plan for Special Campaign 6.0
The campaign will be implemented through three phases to identify targets, carry out the planned activities and assess the results.
The preparatory phase will run from September 15 to September 30. During this period, departments will identify pending matters and operational targets. These include references from Members of Parliament, state governments and inter-ministerial communications, including Cabinet notes.
Departments will also review files and records, record and weed out files, close e-files and identify scrap and other unnecessary materials for disposal. References received from the Prime Minister’s Office, Parliamentary Assurances pending for more than three months, Public Grievances and Appeals will also be reviewed.
The implementation phase will take place from October 2 to October 31. Government offices under the Department will carry out cleanliness activities, scientifically dispose of e-waste and other redundant materials, and take time-bound action on pending references.
The final evaluation phase is scheduled from November 16 to November 30. During this period, the results of the campaign will be assessed across Ministries and Departments.
What Was Achieved Under Special Campaign 5.0?
Special Campaign 6.0 follows the work carried out under the previous Special Campaign 5.0.
During the earlier campaign, the Department of Commerce reviewed 88,385 physical files and weeded out 46,255 of them. The exercise helped free approximately 36,005 square feet of office space across various facilities.
The department also generated around ₹70 lakh through the disposal of scrap and redundant materials. In addition, cleanliness activities were carried out at 277 administrative sites.
Special Campaign 6.0 to Continue Focus on Clean Administration
The latest campaign will build on these earlier efforts, with continued attention to cleanliness, reducing pending work, managing official records and making better use of government office space.
Scientific disposal of e-waste will also remain an important part of the exercise as government departments work towards more organised and efficient administrative operations.
