Tata Motors is preparing to enter the three-row electric SUV space with the upcoming Safari EV. The electric version is expected to retain the familiar Safari identity while adding a larger battery, advanced technology and a more premium cabin.
According to reports, the Tata Safari EV could arrive in India around the 2026 festive season, possibly close to Diwali. It is expected to sit above the Harrier EV in terms of positioning and could compete with models such as the Mahindra XEV 9S and MG Hector Tomahawk EV.
Tata Safari EV Design and Interior Features
The upcoming Safari EV is expected to retain the upright and muscular proportions of the current Safari. Test vehicles have been seen under heavy camouflage, but their three-row SUV shape remains visible.
The electric SUV could receive a redesigned front section with a closed grille, revised bumper, aerodynamic alloy wheels and distinctive lighting elements. At the rear, Tata is expected to continue with a connected LED lighting design.
The cabin could receive several major upgrades. Spy images and previous Tata showcases suggest that higher variants may get a triple-screen dashboard. The current Safari uses a dual-screen arrangement, while Tata has already demonstrated a triple-screen layout on models such as the Sierra and Sierra EV.
Other expected features include a panoramic sunroof, digital inside rear-view mirror, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, powered and ventilated front seats, a powered tailgate and multi-zone climate control.
The three-row SUV could also offer a premium JBL sound system, ambient lighting and connected-car functions. Ventilated captain seats for the second row are also possible, although the final seating arrangement may vary between variants.
80kWh Battery and Around 600km Range
The Tata Safari EV is expected to be offered with battery options of around 65kWh and 75kWh. There are also reports suggesting that a larger 80kWh battery could be available on the model.
Because the Safari EV is expected to be larger and heavier than the Harrier EV, its range could be somewhat lower. However, the top-spec version is expected to deliver a real-world range of approximately 600km.
Tata is also expected to introduce several EV-specific technologies. These could include Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), allowing the vehicle’s battery to supply power to compatible external electrical equipment.
Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging could also be offered, enabling energy transfer between compatible electric vehicles. Other expected technology includes OTA software updates, smartphone-based remote functions, a digital key and Tata’s Arcade.ev connected platform.
Tata Safari EV Safety and ADAS Features
Safety is expected to remain a major focus of the electric Safari. The SUV could feature Level 2 ADAS with functions such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring and automatic emergency braking.
Additional safety equipment may include a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control, hill-hold assist, hill-descent control and multiple terrain modes.
Reports also point towards a possible 540-degree camera system and up to seven airbags. The final equipment list, however, will depend on the variant and Tata Motors’ official specifications.
Tata Safari EV Launch and Expected Price
Tata Motors has not yet announced an official launch date for the Safari EV. Current reports suggest that the electric SUV could be introduced in India around the 2026 Diwali festive season.
The expected ex-showroom price is around ₹22 lakh to ₹32 lakh. Tata Motors is yet to confirm the final pricing, battery options, range, variants and feature list.
