Gold and silver prices in India remained largely steady across major purity categories on September 16. Retail gold was priced at around ₹1,54,420 per 10 grams, while silver was available at approximately ₹2,50,000 per kilogram.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold futures were trading 0.27% higher at ₹1,53,399 per 10 grams. Silver futures also gained 0.77%, reaching around ₹2,40,050 per kilogram at the time of writing.

Gold is mainly sold in 24-carat and 22-carat varieties in the retail market. While 24K represents the highest purity, 22K gold is commonly used for jewellery because alloyed metals make it stronger and more durable.
