Gold and silver prices have declined, bringing some relief to buyers tracking the precious metals market. According to rates released by the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), the price of 24-carat gold fell by ₹1,129 to ₹1,51,233 per 10 grams, while silver declined by ₹2,862 to ₹2,28,475 per kilogram.

Gold and silver prices have remained volatile, with rates moving up and down regularly. The latest decline may be important for people planning to purchase gold jewellery or silver items. However, buyers should remember that the IBJA rates do not include GST or making charges.

Gold Price This Year

Despite the recent decline, gold remains significantly more expensive compared with the end of 2025. On December 31, 2025, the price of 10 grams of gold was around ₹1.33 lakh. It has now reached approximately ₹1.51 lakh, representing an increase of about ₹18,000.

Silver, meanwhile, was priced at around ₹2.30 lakh per kilogram on December 31, 2025. Its latest quoted rate stands at approximately ₹2.28 lakh per kilogram.

Gold Rates by Purity

As per the IBJA rates cited in the report, the price of 24-carat gold is ₹1,51,233 per 10 grams. The rate for 23-carat gold is ₹1,50,627, while 22-carat gold is priced at ₹1,38,529 per 10 grams.

For lower-purity gold, the 18-carat rate stands at ₹1,13,425 per 10 grams, while 14-carat gold is priced at ₹88,471 per 10 grams. These figures correspond to IBJA’s 999, 995, 916, 750 and 585 purity benchmarks.

Silver Price Today

The IBJA rate for 999-purity silver has fallen by ₹2,862 to ₹2,28,475 per kilogram. The previous quoted rate was ₹2,31,337 per kilogram.

Silver has also seen notable price movements during September, with the metal trading at different levels throughout the month.

GST and Making Charges Extra

Consumers should note that IBJA bullion rates are benchmark rates and do not include GST or jewellery-making charges. The final amount paid at a jewellery store can therefore be higher than the quoted gold or silver rate.

IBJA’s published rates are provided for specific gold purities and silver and are generally quoted before applicable taxes and making charges.
