PM Vishwakarma Yojana: The PM Vishwakarma scheme is completing three years on September 17, 2026. Launched on the same date in 2023, the scheme is aimed at providing comprehensive support to traditional artisans and craftspeople working across 18 identified trades.
A major milestone has been achieved as 30 lakh beneficiaries have completed the prescribed three-stage verification process and registered under the scheme. Around 24.50 lakh Vishwakarmas have also received basic skill training.
What Benefits Does PM Vishwakarma Provide?
PM Vishwakarma offers several forms of support, including official recognition through a certificate and identity card, skill development, modern toolkits, credit assistance, digital transaction incentives and marketing support.
The scheme has a total financial outlay of ₹13,000 crore for the period from 2023-24 to 2027-28. It covers 18 traditional occupations and is designed to help artisans improve their skills, productivity and access to wider markets.
Under the credit component, eligible beneficiaries can receive collateral-free loans in two stages. The first tranche can go up to ₹1 lakh, followed by a second tranche of ₹2 lakh subject to the prescribed conditions. The concessional interest rate is 5% per annum, with the government providing interest subvention.
The scheme also provides a toolkit incentive of up to ₹15,000. Basic training runs for 5–7 days, while advanced training lasts 15 days or more. Trainees receive a stipend of ₹500 per day during training.

The scheme is available to artisans and craftspeople who work with their hands and tools and are engaged in one of the 18 identified traditional trades. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and working in the relevant occupation at the time of registration.
Registration and verification are carried out through Common Service Centres (CSCs), followed by the prescribed three-stage verification process.
The 18 covered trades include carpenters, boat makers, armourers, metal artisans, tool-kit makers, locksmiths, goldsmiths, potters, sculptors and stone workers, cobblers, masons, basket/mat/broom makers, traditional toy makers, barbers, garland makers, washermen, tailors and fishing-net makers.
E-Commerce and Market Support for Artisans
PM Vishwakarma also focuses on helping artisans reach customers and markets beyond their local areas. More than 30,000 beneficiaries have been onboarded onto e-commerce platforms, including GeM, ONDC, Meesho, Amazon, Fabindia and Sulekha.
At the PM Vishwakarma National Exhibition-cum-Trade Fair held at Dilli Haat from January 17 to 31, 2026, more than 117 artisans participated and recorded sales of over ₹2 crore.
The scheme is also being linked with the One Station One Product initiative to provide market access to Divyangjan Vishwakarma artisans. Dedicated retail outlets have been established at selected railway stations, while PM Vishwakarma stalls have also been opened at airports, including Bhopal and Chandigarh.
With its third anniversary being observed on September 17, the scheme has reached its target of 30 lakh registered beneficiaries while continuing to provide training, credit, tools and market-linkage support to traditional artisans and craftspeople.
