Salman Khan is currently appearing on Bigg Boss 20, but fans are already looking forward to his next appearance on the big screen. The superstar is reportedly set to collaborate with filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, known for films such as Rang De Basanti, on an upcoming project.
According to a report by Filmfare, Salman Khan is expected to portray Karna, one of the key characters from the Mahabharat. However, details about the film and its storyline remain under wraps. Neither Salman nor Mehra has officially confirmed the project so far.
While the casting details have not been formally announced, Filmfare has reported that Salman Khan and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra will indeed be working together.
Salman Khan Could Take on the Role of Karna
Karna is one of the most prominent figures in the Indian epic Mahabharat. The character was recently portrayed by Telugu star Prabhas in Kalki 2898 AD.
If Salman takes on the role, the project would mark his first reported appearance as a mythological character. The collaboration with Mehra would also bring together the actor and filmmaker for the first time.
More information about the film, including its title, production timeline and other cast members, is yet to be revealed.
What Is Next for Salman Khan?
Salman Khan’s upcoming projects include Maatrubhumi, a film that has faced several delays. Recent reports suggested that the movie could soon be submitted to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
However, Bollywood Hungama reported that there had been no fresh development regarding the film’s CBFC screening. A source cited by the publication said the movie remains stuck because of its China connection.
According to the source, the makers are working to resolve the issue and are in contact with the relevant government officials. Once the matter is settled, the film can proceed with the CBFC certification process before its theatrical release.
The source also indicated that the resolution could take a few days or weeks, or potentially longer, with the film’s status remaining unchanged for now.
Maatrubhumi Was Earlier Titled Battle of Galwan
The film was previously announced under the title Battle of Galwan. It is based on the 2020 conflict between India and China.
Salman Khan was last seen in Sikandar in 2026 and subsequently made a cameo appearance in Raja Shivaji. He is also set to appear in a Telugu film opposite Nayanthara.
With his reported collaboration with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and several projects in the pipeline, more details about Salman Khan’s upcoming films are expected to emerge in the coming months.
