Gold Rate Today: Gold and silver prices in India remained largely stable, with only minor movements seen across major purity categories. Investors and consumers continue to closely track precious metal prices as international bullion trends, currency movements and domestic demand influence the market.

Gold is primarily sold in 24-karat and 22-karat purity in the Indian retail market. While 24K gold represents the highest level of purity commonly available, 22K gold is more widely used for jewellery because its alloy content makes it stronger and more suitable for everyday wear.

The latest retail gold price is around ₹1,53,260 per 10 grams, while silver is trading at approximately ₹2,34,690 per kg.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold futures declined marginally by 0.08% to ₹1,52,655 per 10 grams. Silver futures were also slightly lower, falling 0.04% to around ₹2,34,886 per kg at the time of writing.

Why Do Gold Prices Change in India?

Domestic gold prices are influenced by several factors. Movements in the international bullion market play an important role, while fluctuations in the US dollar-rupee exchange rate can also affect the price of imported gold.

Local demand is another key factor. Jewellery purchases typically increase around festivals, weddings and other important occasions, which can influence retail prices across different markets.

24K vs 22K Gold: What’s the Difference?

24K gold is considered the purest form of gold commonly traded in the market. Because of its high purity, it is generally softer and is more commonly purchased in the form of coins, bars and investment products.

22K gold, on the other hand, contains a mixture of gold and alloyed metals. This gives it greater hardness and durability, making it a popular choice for jewellery.

For buyers, the appropriate option depends on whether the primary objective is investment or jewellery use. Consumers should also check making charges, GST and other applicable costs before purchasing physical gold.

What Should Gold Buyers Watch?

Gold prices can continue to respond to changes in global bullion prices, currency movements, geopolitical developments and domestic demand. With festive and wedding purchases potentially supporting jewellery demand, retail buyers should compare rates across jewellers before making a purchase.

For investors, tracking both MCX gold prices and international gold prices can provide a broader view of the direction of the precious metals market.

Disclaimer: Gold and silver rates can vary during the day and may differ between cities, jewellers and individual transactions. Buyers should confirm the latest price, taxes and additional charges with the jeweller before purchasing.
