Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal has thanked Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leader Saurav Das for drawing attention to problems affecting students in Punjab’s government schools.
Das recently led a CJP delegation to Punjab as part of the group’s “School Thik Karo” campaign, during which the team inspected government schools and assessed the facilities available to students.
Following the visit, Kejriwal said the concerns raised by the delegation would be taken seriously. In a post on X, the AAP leader thanked CJP for highlighting the issues and said efforts would be made to work with the Punjab government to “immediately address the concerns.”
CJP Team Inspects Government Schools in Ludhiana
The CJP delegation visited several government schools in Ludhiana to examine their infrastructure and identify areas that require attention.
Das said the team was impressed by the condition of Punjab’s Schools of Eminence, which are designed to provide students with upgraded educational facilities. However, he also pointed out that some shortcomings remained and said these were brought to the attention of Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains.
In a post on X, Das said the delegation found most of the 20 parameters they examined to be positive at the School of Eminence. He added that the Education Minister agreed to meet the team and assured them that action would be taken on the concerns raised.
Schools of Eminence Impress CJP Delegation
According to Das, the School of Eminence they visited had several notable facilities, including a swimming pool, ramps, an AI laboratory and a computer lab.
He appreciated the infrastructure and said that, in some areas, the facilities available at the school compared favourably with those found in private schools.
Punjab has approximately 19,000 government schools, while the state government has announced plans for 118 Schools of Eminence. However, only a portion of the proposed schools have been inaugurated so far.
CJP Raises Concerns Over Old School Infrastructure
The delegation also visited Government Senior Secondary School, Jandiali, which dates back to 1936.
Das said that although maintenance work has been carried out over the years, much of the school’s infrastructure remains old.
He expressed hope that students studying there would also receive improved facilities and urged the Punjab government to focus on upgrading the school’s infrastructure.
The inspection was part of CJP’s broader “School Thik Karo” initiative, aimed at identifying problems in government schools and drawing attention to issues that affect students and their learning environment.
